can't get spark plugs out!!!need help!

how large is the diameter for my 1ga dsm turbo. my 5/8's spark pluge key won't fit over them and i can't get them out. They are NGK's and seem to be stuck, anybody give me a pointer or two, thanks!

Are you getting a grab on them and they are just too tight or can you not even get a grab on them?

i can't even grab them, the screw part doesn't even go around the whole thing. I changed them before and they were a cinche, something not right and i don't know what it is.

13/16" spark plug socket.
Obviously, and a socket wrench, to take out the spark plugs.

What do you mean by "the screw part"? Do you mean the socket?

If you changed them before are you now using the same socket as when you changed them before?

I actually took mine out the other day. Initially I thought that I wasn't getting the socket around the plugs or that it wasn't going deep enough because when I turned I didn't feel anything. Turns out it was turning BUT the spark plug I was working on was already loose! :eek:

Are your spark plugs still tightly seated? Can you wiggle them around in place or no?

be sure to get the extension that fits that spark plug socket... my tool set didnt come with an extention for that big of a socket and i had to buy one.

Make sure you use some anti-sieze on the threads of the plugs when you install your new ones.....
The thermal expansion coefficient of the steel plug to the aluminum head is very different, and the aluminum
is going to want to thermally weld itself to your plugs, this could potentially strip out the threads in the head when you try to remove your old plugs....
If their hella tight, use some good pentrating lubricant.....
Spray some down inside the plugs holes and let it soak for about 10 - 15mins.
Use a cheater bar on your rachet to aid in leverage.... but be careful not to rip out your thread in you head....
When I changed my O2 sensors, they were hella tight....
I sprayed some penetrating lube on them, let them sit over night, and I barely had to put any force on the wrench to pull them out....
Just a thought, I use anti sieze on all screws going into aluminum simply for the piece of mind.....
