Dual intercoolers [Merged 11-8, again] twin double two Duel stage Intercooler ??

Is it possible to have 2 intercoolers in your car, one that is mounted in the front, and another mounted behind the passenger side wheel and have them connected? This is on a 92 talon turbo.

one good one would probably be better as there would be less pressure drop and less restriction.

would be kinda neat tho, in a ricey sort of way. You could say "I have 2 intercoolers" hehe. Not something I would do, as I like my stuff as simple as possible. 2 intercoolers makes for way too many connections and chances for stuff to go wrong.

thats like the twin turbo vs single turbo question, two turbos(intercoolers) get inaficcient (sp?) one good one will do a better job.

Yup..I believe its three stock 1G intercoolers all welded together..go with an IRC front mount, proven,good looking..

Many guys use the 1G intercoolers welded together on other cars, especially the TT mustang guys. If you use larger inlet/outlets and better endtanks, they make a good FMIC. I am planning on welding up the gear to put a dual SMIC intercooler on my 2G soon. 2 wrongs don't make a right, 2 halfway decent intercoolers make a decent intercooler.

I might go ahead and say as well, that my bumper on the stock side is all bored out (front and back) to get much better airflow through the stocker and I was planning on cutting the bumper up on the other side to get plenty of airflow there as well.

I will be using 3 sidemounts welded together. 3 is always better than 1!!!
Lets see 1/3 the pressure drop, 3 times the cooling ability, 3 times the capacity. On top of that its mounted in the front and not on the side.

When I get it done I will take my car to the track run it, then install the fmic while leaving everything else the same and run it again.

My bet is that you will end up having to add A LOT more fuel when you switch over to a real FMIC because you will be making so much more power with a REAL intercooler

RDRKT did u win against the rx7.com car? Oh and id go with a real FMIC, i got a Spearco w/ piping on my 3000 and i noticed a good gain especially goin from 14-16psi...times also showed a difference, went from a 12.5 to a 12.2, plus it looks bad ass. Im goin with the normal Starion FMIC on my Talon for now, but got a friend w/ a GVR4 who did the dual sidemounts, it works for sure.

Without a doubt it will help.

I was actually considering going with 4 of them, but I figured that would be overkill.

Heh, so true.

You'll have better cooling power wth dual sides or 3 welded together for a FMIC, but you can't flow squat threw them.
