Turbine Housing

Ok here's the situation....I got this tdo5 14b turbo and was just about to start porting it when i noticed a crack on the outside of the turbine housing. Theres also some cracks on the inside but theyre not in the same area and theyre not that deep, after porting they would probably be gone. I assume this is junk now because of this crack on the outside. My question is "Would i be able to put the turbine housing from a 13b tdo4 turbo on my 14b tdo5 w/o any drawbacks?" Is the inlet to the turbo or the wastgate flapper smaller on the 13b? Ive searched this site a few times and on vfaq to get this answer but the lil 13b is barely talked about since everyone wants a 14b or bigger. Im almost done w/ my motor and im not ready to go out and get a E3 16g yet so i got make due w/ my cheaper options. Thanx for any and all help!!!

if you have the 13b in your possession why not try it on? i know the td04 and the td05h have nothing to do with the turbine housing but I dont think they'll fit.

with saying that, I have seen b16g's with 6cm housings... maybe you can ??

I dont have the 13b I just know of one that i could more than likely get real cheap if not free. Id just have to make time to go take it off. I basicly just need to know if the 2 turbos use the 6cm housing.

13G's used a 5cm^2 housing.

I don't believe there's a way you're going to be able to fit the TD05H turbine wheel into the TD04 housing even if you wanted to, which you don't.

ok thanks thats the answer i was looking for. It is possible to put a turbine housing from a 16g on a 14b right???

Yep, both are TD05H (usually... there have been some TD06 16G's running around)

usually? i've never heard of a td06 16g.. only 16g's using 7 cm^2 or 10 cm^2 housings interesting ...

I meant that they're usually of the TD05H variety, but I have seen one or two people who claimed to have TD06 16Gs

Do all tdo5 16g turbos use the 7cm housing? Im looking at getting a 16g housing to put on my 14b. Is that possible w/o changing anything else or am i gonna need to change other stuff? I know itll bolt right up to my exhaust manifold. Also how exactly do u remove the turbine housing from the turbo and does anyone know any good turbo shops that can balance my turbo when its put back together? Im near Detroit.

No, not all have the 7cm^2 housing... many are 6cm^2, same as a 14B.

I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure you can just swap your 14B turbine housing onto a 16G compressor housing/CHRA, since they're the same turbine wheel and shaft.

I'll chime in and 3rd that. Lose some spoolup, gain some topend by going with the bigger housing. Dont go any bigger though ..i have a HRC Super16G with the 10cm2 housing and...
