Will a 7 bolt 2g motor and tranny fit in a 1g?

I totaled my 1998 gst and I was wondering if the motor and tranny will fit in a 1g car.

I didn't explain why because I don't have first hand experience with the topic. I try not to answers people questions I also don't know 100% for sure (im like 80% on this one), rather then throwing out things I don't know at all.

The reason why I said what I said "If thats so why does the 7 bolt tranny bolt to a 1g then?" was reason, Friend has a 6bolt swap in his 2g, and uses his 7 bolt tranny. (but see the question was about a 2g in a 1g though)

Now someone can jump in and tell me if im wrong here.
Ok 2g swap in a 1g, would work fine with a 1g 6 bolt tranny or a 1g 7bolt, the only thing I can see as a problem is the tranny mount and shift linkage. My reason behind it there are "7bolt motors" in a 1g. Another problem would be if the car is AWD, then you have a spline issue between transfercases I belive thats why they use 2g transmissions and transfercases in the 2g 6 bolt swap for AWD cars. (once again anyone feel free to correct me if im wrong)

Though he just wants to swap all his stuff over from his 2g to a 1g though. It could work though frankly this Idea is just a bad Idea, you will most likly need alter the motor mounts for it to sit right, and rewire everything to obd2 or 1 some how also, and rewiring isn't fun.

It can be done, but why would you want too? Clipseboost98 your mod list is mostly just for a 2g (exhasut, intercooler, icpiping, blah). You could easily make money from selling your 2g parts on here or on dsmtrader to help mod your 1g. I'll even buy some stuff off you...

Its possable, I did a search too but didn't find anything. I found some people asking about using a 2g tranny in a 1g but no one said realy anything but, except, "Why would you do that since 1g trannies or a dime a dozen"?

Let me know what you find out though. If I find anything on the topic it I will post it.

the point isnt if its logicall i have the same questions i have a 1g gst,, and i recently got a 2g gst.. i want to put the 6 bolt into the 2g and the ghetto 7 bolt into the 1g so i can sell it. the 1g is automatic.


other than the cas i dont forsee a problem on the 2g.. on a 1g however useing the crank and cam sensors will be difficult and swaping a 2g ecu into a 1g is unacceptable.

so what other options do i have the 1g has to run so it can be sold. so where are the wireing gods and someone give me a answer rather than its pointless.. becaust that would make your input pointles..
