SlowBoy/Kinetic 1G RACE FMIC Kit questions

Hi guys!

I have few questions about this kit, before buying it...

Do you think this half-rubber-made piping can support a lot of boost ? (25 psi +)

Hard to see on pictures, do you see any way to put a GM MAF after the BOV in the piping routing ?

And since I'm not Mr. Brackets, can the bumper cover be well installed ?
(I don't know where the bumper cover bolts to the bumper support)

Mmmm, im pretty sure that slowboy uses all metal piping. if you read their page, it says the primarily use black piping. maybe it looks like rubber?

they'd be dumb to use rubber. thats like using stock piping.

the kinetic/slowboy kit uses high quality silicone couplers and t-bolt clamps, I think it should be rated well above 25psi... I've only ran mine to like 22 psi or so and they didn't pop off.

There is a pic of it in my gallery that shows the newer version, I think the pics below are of an older version. I think if you cut the last silicone coupler in half, you should be able to fit the GM MAF in between?

For mine the metal bumper support had to be cut out, but the front bumper went back on with only minor trimming (got a pic of that too)

Agreed, the Kinetic kit is top-notch. Just make sure your clamps are really tight. Matter-of-fact you can see Kinetic's couplers in last month's Turbo mag.

My gallery shows the brackets I made to replace the bumper. You could just leave this out all together and the bumper cover would still hold fine to the rad support and wheel wells.

Not trying to hijack the thread or anything, but I have a couple questions too ### I'm thinking about buyin this kit. You guys that have it, how was the install? Did you need to cut the bumper or any supports to fit it? Relocate anything? I wanna do a blowby gm maf setup too, heh. Maybe we could email them and see if they could custom fab something?

Just in case anyone still needs to know, I emailed slowboy racing to ask about using a gm maf blowby and what had to be cut to install it, they said that you have to trip the radiator support for the short route piping (pretty standard) and said they could configure it for a gm maf for $25 extra (for extra couplers etc). Seems like a good way to go, it's what I'll probably pick up if I get a full fmic kit.

The install wasn't bad, just time consuming. You will need to go with a slimline a/c fan (or just leave it off), relocate the coolant overflo bottle, and bend some a/c coolant lines and a few other lines. I had a reciprocating saw, and I couldn't of done the job without it. (You need the saw to widen out the holes for the endtanks). I had to cut off about 1" off the endtank on the drivers side because the silicone elbow was hitting the alternator, and everything fits fine now. As far as the front bumper support goes, you can either take it off completely, or just keep the ends (see avatar below) like I did if you want to keep your factory running lights. I didn't have to trim anything off my front bumper cover at all.
AND, if you are running a mitsu turbo, (14B, 16G, 20G) make sure you have a aftermarket J-pipe (slowboy sells them) because the kit doesn't come with one, and they don't tell you you need one but you do!
