Ok, so, my car has adequate coolent, fan works, car is actually overheating, coolent is boiling. I know this could be from several things, what are the most common reasons that a 1gdsm will overheat?

Thermostat. Crack in radiator top. Blown head gasket. I have seen thermostats actually fall apart and come out in 2 pieces. At idle from a cold start, watch the coolant as the thermostat opens and the upper hose gets hot. lots of air bubbles = bad head gasket. A volcano = definitely bad head gasket
