Okay, this is probabley been beatin to death but....I'll ask anyways.

Why do people say it's better to run lower compression pistons with higher boost?

I mean if I get the same compression as stock but like aftermarket forged pistons wouldn't the pistons be able to handle the higher boost??

2nd question:

lets say i keep the stock pistons and up the boost to like 18psi to 20 psi for daily driving, but i do all of the nesaccary fuel mods would the pistons still be able to handel it?

thank you for any help/tips/advice you get!

It's not about what the engine can handle. It's the fuel.

When the compression is to high, it's explodes prematurely. This is called "knock". Only way to bump up compression and boost, and STILL get to run right, is race fuel with Octane levels into the 100's.

Who said that? That's true if you only care about power and not driveability.

what do you suggest then?? because i plan on racing my friend this summer and I want to crank up the boost to like about 20-25psi just for that little bit of time that i'm going to be racing her. which would be like what? well...wouldn't be that long..and when im racing her i don't want to like blow my engine...LOL im soooo sounding like a newbie and i've been researching cars for like 4 years now damn...hahahah

gosh damnit, im still stuck on that honda shit :barf: :thumbdown

:dsm: fo' life (LOL as soon as i get one)

lower static compression is also easier to tune
what turbo are you running? most likely there is absolutely no point for you to run 25psi, nor will your turbo be able to run 25psi
