Trick to replacing fog light bulbs?

hey just wondering if there's some kind of trick to changing the fog light bulbs. i don't want to break the lens trying to get it off, any suggestions? thanks!

Try and get them off from the front and if that doesnt work, cut some slits in the back plastic to get at the bulbs. Mine are rusted in place so this is how I had to get at mine.

### they are bulky and the car looks better without it.. in my opinion.. the wiring was messed up on one of mine so to pass inspection i just took them off... looks better i think

He's asking about a 1g. I didn't see anything in that other forum about the 1g setup. In theory, you should be able to get them off from the front, but usually those bolts rust solid. Like I said before, you can get at them from behind by bending the plastic out of the way and even making som little slits to get more leverage. I remember my driver's side was the bigger PITA out of the two. Definately gashed up my fingers that day.

Yeah, I ended up getting frustrated with mine, and just putting on some $15 Walmart specials that look basically exactly the same shape.

I just moved 'em so they weren't covering the intercooler.

How did you tale them off, at least in my case i can't figure it out and i really want them outta there. It seems so simple but I can't figure it out, I must be missing something.

Like most have said my bolts were rusted...and my button in the car to turn them on/off had gone bad. So i removed them as well. I just took my dremel to the bolts and cut em off to get the fog lights outta there.

It really is simple, but it's also a pain. DSM in their infinite wisdom decided that it was cool to skimp on parts and use non-SS mounts for the fog lamps. After a couple years, they became rusted just enough to make it impossible to remove them, but not enough for them to fall off on their own. There are only a couple screws that should come off with a Phillips head screwdriver that hold it on, but good luck getting them to turn. Do yourself a favor and use a cutting wheel on a Dremel.

My driver side fog light is out, I've been trying to turn the screws for about 3 months now lol. Can anyone give me more detail about where to cut in the back to get to the bulb?

Take off your driver's wheel and take some of the screws out that hold the finder liner in. Once you get behind that, there is the piece of plastic you need to cut to get at the back of your lights. It is a lot easier if you have two people (one to hold the plastic back while one works). It's even easier if you have someone with small hands. Children do have an actual purpose at this point. Getting the bulb out is a matter of feel and remembering how you got it out so you can get everything set to put the new bulb back in. I think it took me around an hour and if it ever burns out again, I'm ripping them off for something I can actually get at.

How I got mine off was by taking off the lower plastic shielding, and looking up from underneath the car. You can see the brackets that the lights attach to. I just removed the entire bracket setup.

One of them was rusted good on there, just keep wiggling/bashing it until it breaks away.

lol the intercooler sides even worse! but the olny way is from the back. GOOD luck! but taking them out is not a bad idea because the ic side one does block alot of air!

yeah the screws in the glass will not turn at all so i'll probably just take them off and get a smaller set and use the stock wiring.
