UpState NY RallyCross for All! Sept 10th-05
When: September 10th, 2005 (Saturday)
RallyRPI is presenting our Inaugural RallyCross Event catering to everyone who has any interests in rallying, off-roading, and sports of the like. The purpose is to bring back the sport and spirit of rallying to the Upstate Region and provide an inexpensive avenue for amateurs to participate and the pro's to practice for the next Stage Rally Event.
This is our first event and Washington County Fairgrounds is gracious enough to help us with the financial situation. The most important thing right now is to reach the break even point for the first event, and if everything goes well the price will eventually drop and the number of events will go up. Trust us when I say we're non-profitable.
The following Website Contains Basic Information
http://www.geocities.com/rallyrpi/Rally_Cross.html
Please check it out and e-mail rallyrpi@yahoo.com (or reply to post) for any questions regarding what so-ever. We're looking for at least 30 early registrants or else the chances of this event happening might be slim (deadline August 10th). Please spread the word around and get this going! I promise it will be BIG and Enjoyable to all once everything gets on track. Help us make this happen.
Regards,
Dominic Gus Lin

Sup guys,
Let's get some feedback and discussion going on this topic. RallyRPI is really trying hard to get this event running. And remember, if everything runs well this event, we will be getting a lot of attention from the local region including sponsorships. These sponsorships may come in the form of event fee reduction, discount on performance parts and services, and exposure to grassroots motorsport media coverage. The Sport of Rallying is really getting big in the upstate region, take this chance and get involved!
Regards,
Dominic Gus Lin

There may be people out there who don't realize the difference between a rallycross, a TSD road rally, a pro-style offroad rally and a poker run.
It might be worth a little background info on what a rallycross is
Bruce Perry is a RochesterDSM member and a professional rally competitor. He owns Perry Park where he hosts SCCA RallyCross events.
I don't know how close RallyRPI's rules are to SCCA's, but this link may provide some background: http://www.flr-scca.com/rally/2005/r...oss/index.html
|
For those who are less familiar with RallyCross, it is pretty much an AutoCross on dirt/grass/gravel/etc. Rules apply very smiliarly to Solo2 competition and the point is to maneuver around the cones as fast as possible.

Anybody with a Street Car can participate in this event. Regardless of your driving level, if you have any interest in the sport of rallying or off-roading, come out for a day of sliding and kicking up dirt. We need atleast 30 early registrants by August 10th! Please reply to rallyrpi@yahoo.com to join the list!

I've been able to spark some interests in the Evo forums, hopefully we will see a nice mix of DSM & EVO's at the event on September 10th.
I will be updating the list of early registrants on the website http://www.geocities.com/rallyrpi/Rally_Cross.html
Please check it out. For early registration to work, the only thing you need to do is e-mail rallyrpi@yahoo.com with your name, car, and modification if any prior to August 10th. Payment will not be required until the day of the event, however I would strongly suggest all early registrants to show up or else if we do not meet our cost this event may not be happening again.
Thank you for all the support guys!
Regards,
Dominic Gus Lin

Nine Days left to early register.
The way it seems, we're going to have two classes. AWD and FWD. Novice and Pro is going to be hard to divide, but if enough people register, there might be 4 classes.

We had a coordination meeting yesterday at the fairgrounds and we took some pictures for your reference. The place is huge and after a short calculation we determiend that the land is about 60 acres, good enough for a 1-2 mi course. We're still looking for 15 competitors, please check our website for constant updates
