MIR's first day open again is March 6. There has been some guys at galantvr4.org talking about going to shut up some Maxima.org smack talkers. Lets get out there and show the Nissan guys what up!

I will be there getting baseline timeslips for my car as I just got a month ago. Basics mods will be on by then so hopefully ill be running mid-14s as ive never been to the track before. If we can get enough people together, we can all have a cruise up there.

what kinda times you think you will run Travis? Baring me breaking anymore axles I'm hoping for mid 12.80's. If i can't get in there w/ this set up I'm selling it. LOL

hey guys im down to go... i can talk with some of my boys and see if theyre down too

For real chris... hahaha

Yeah I have all the supporting mods to max out the ported 14B including fmic (awating installation)... yes.. I said 14b so bash away..., and im determined to get it to the low low 13's on fwd w/radials... so im going to try and be there.

ps:wish me luck on getting low 13's haha

This thread was started because of me. I know most of the DC area maxima people and I always talk trash with them. As of now my GVR4 is running and they were talking about me racing and I have some stuff to settle with a few of them. I told my brother who has a GVR4 and he's going. Then I posted it on GalantVR4.org to try to get more GVR4s out there.

About the maximas being slow, there is a local max that is turbo now that has ran 11.9 before when he was supercharged. There will be a few boosted ones there and a few with nitrous, some might have both. So most are slow, some aren't depending on who all shows up. One max guy is bringing his mustang that runs 11s and whatever else they show up with.

A maxima person read this thread and posted the link on the track meet thread on maxima.org so they know about it and are reading it.

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=367874&page=1&pp=30

Page 9 is where they start talking about the dsm thread. Challenges are being put out there. They were talking about someone's 14.8 sec 1/4 time...

Just a thought but shouldn't the track day be held after the GMU meet so that everyone can make it to that meet instead of risking breaking there cars at the track. And as for the 14b those are capable of mid 12 sec passes with out a fmic in awd form so goodluck. :thumb:

I think the main reason this meet is happening is to race the maximas at their meet. You can schedule a track meet for after the gmu meet, i don't think its a big deal to show up if you think you will break your car.

if i get my trans,i'm game. no since of going to run 12.8s@111 cause i can't shift.
Maybe if i get my trans i'll be able to impress with some 11.7s

I have absolutely no idea. I have not purchased slicks yet so I am not really expecting very quick e.t's. I expect my trap speed to climb pretty high.

im game for MIR to .. never been to 1/4mile track my tiburon wasnt fast enough LOL.. nah but i should have my downpipe/racepipe/catback/intake/bov/and UICP on by then so base run times will be good! LOL :thumb:

***that is if i can get it out the driveway cause its not moving with no belts on it LOL.. ***

Thats kinda the point I was getting at. If you are afraid of breaking then by all means don't run. But I also thought it would be fun to show up w/ faster times slips then last years. What a way to show off all the hard work over the winter. :thumb:

wow this is gonna be funny. maybe i will have to get my tranny fixed. time to do the taxes

Liam, When did you break your tranny? What and how did you break it? You know me and matt rebuild trannys right.....Im me or get my number from jerry if your interested. If not hope to cya at MIR or GMU with a running car!

I dont mean to be a newb or anything, but ive read through MIR and everything and it talks about all this stuff I have to do. I just want to participate in the open runs. Now do I need to write down any numbers, have anything special for the track? If anyone could help me out cuz I dont want to slow anyone down behind me on the track by me doing something stupid. And when staging, do I want the first light or the second light? IF someone could just explain EVERYTHING to me from getting to the place where you buy your pass to when your done with all the runs. thanx a lot!

Also, since im mostly stock, im not going to need a helmet or roll cage am I? If I need a helmet then I guess I cant run this time cuz helmets are expensive and im broke

you won't need a helmet... best thing to do is watch a little before you do it so you get the idea of how staging works.. most people #### up their first time though.. so don't feel bad if you do.. it took me a lot of passes to get used to reacting to a light tree. i still suck at it.

Helmets are for 13.99 and under cars so i doubt you will be busting times better then that with your mods, but you can always prove me wrong :thumb:

Best thing is get there early and wait in line. Then go straight to tech inspect. You most likely wont even have to pop your hood since most MIR techs dont give a rats A$$ about 4cyl and expect them to be all slow. Heck everytime i go they place me in the street class even after argueing with them that i should be in PRO Class(sub 12.99). Its ok they bite their tongue after my first pass everytime

You want the second stage light(both lights lit) UNLESS your running a PRO TREE but they only do that at BIG Import events...not little ol MIR midnight/midday madness. Common racer courtest is to stage the first late, wait for the other to stage 1 light, then you stage the second light, then he stages his second light. Once the other person stages the second light the tree will drop within seconds so be prepared. Also normal to get very nervous when your up at the tree and ready to go, everybody is like this at first....easiest way to cure it is turn the stereo way up and pump some music to get you excited(Godsmack does it for me)

WHen people stage "DEEP" that means they go a little farther and stage on JUST THE SECOND LIGHT(only second light lit). Dont do that, its only for crazy pro domestics with LINE LOCKS & Trans Brakes. Im not really sure why its just what the officials at MIR told me???

P.s. I didnt tell you this but a easy way to learn good reaction times for free is late at night at street lights..... :shhh:

at MIR you are not required to wear a helmet unless you run 13.99 or faster no matter what car you have stock or modified. You are required to have a cage if you run 11.49 or faster and you are required to wear a fire retardent jacket. There are more rules after that, but I dont' worry about those.....yet
When staging you have the first set of yellow lights that come on, that means you are prestaged. You then roll up a little bit further until you see your second set of lights come on, STOP here. That means you are staged. If you roll any further the top lights turn off with the bottom set of yellow lights remaining on, that means you are deep staged, I only recommend running deep if you have have lots of experience. Whoever lights up their second set of yellow lights last will start the tree falling. Make sure you have your rpms up before the start falling or atleast attempt to. The general concensus is to release the clutch or brake right after you see the last falling yellow light turn on, that will be the 3rd yellow light that turns on. After that just hit your shifts.
About numbers, they have white shoe polish in a bottle that they use to write your number and class down on your window with. Just be sure to bring tools, maybe a quart of extra oil, money for admission, food and drinks and a possible this time of year a jacket.

whoa ken! looks like myself and you were typing the same thing at the same time. i sent you a pm

Whoever lights up their second set of yellow lights last will start the tree falling

The starter starts the tree falling. But obviously he won't start it until both cars are ready.

To the guy who wants to know...just show up. Someone will assist you...I made Bill's brother ride with me my first time so he could explain it to me as it was done. I didn't #### it up.
