what do i need to pull for a 5 speed conv. swap off a 1g tsi awd

im doin a 5 speed swap n my auto 91 awd tsi. i found a 91 tsi awd with a 5 speed. the guy told me i can have what i want off car. so what all do i need to pull to make this swap right. thanks n advance

I've never done a swap but I think you need the pedal assembly, rear, trans, shifter, cables, gastank and theres more. Does vfaq.com still exist? May have the run down on that site.

Theres a lot you need...

-clutch/brake pedal assembly
-clutch master cylinder
-slave cylinder
-clutch line from master cylinder to slave cylinder
-transmission
-t-case
-rear end
-shifter/cables
-spacer plate between the tranny and engine
-awd flywheel
-clutch/pressure plat and a new oem TOB
-either get a turbo 5 speed wiring harness or slice up your automatic harness (thats what I did)
-The rear and front axels can be reused

Also if your going to use the 14b turbo the 5 speed cars come with you will need:
-The turbo
-450 injectors
-Turbo manifold
-5 speed ECU

That should be it, If you have any other questions you can PM me I just did the swap on my 1g talon awd.

Good to know^ I always thought the tank in a fwd tank got in the way. Isn't the fuel pump in a different spot in awd from fwd?

He is not doing a FWD to AWD conversion, that is impossible to do in a 1g. He already has a AWD fuel tank. But to answer your question yes the gastanks from FWD to AWD are different, the FWD is more flat and bigger in diameter, as the AWD tank is more rectangular and the AWD tank sits back father to allow the rear to be in the right place. Also the fuel pump on a FWD is on the back side of the tank while the AWD is on top and can be accessed threw the panel in the trunk.

I appreciate the info. Starting to second guess if this is what i wanna do cause i very little experiance at mechanic work. Pretty much doin everything by the book. Have thoughts of keeping the auto and building that. Heard they can make faster passes. Ne truth to that

Its not a hard thing to do, but I feel you it does get to you when you need to drill holes and all. And to answer your question, yes autos can make faster passes because they get off the line quicker, and they hold boost threw the shifts because you keep your foot on the gas. But usually the people that build an auto put shift kits in to make it shift later, but for your needs the stock auto should do fine!

It might be better for you to find a parts car, and yes you need to drill 2 holes threw the fire wall, one for the clutch pedal resvoir, and one for the shifter cables to go threw. holesaws work perfect for this, the holes are already imprinted in the metal.

He kind of had a chance to buy mine or all the parts off of it i was holding the car until this weekend for him. But when i saw this post that he was unsure he still wanted to do the swap. I called it off plus did not want him to come here and not be able to get something off and say screw it. So now the car is going to a friends house and they will be pulling it all out. And if he really wants do it all parts will be off and ready for him.
