The Short Version ;P

'99 Eclipse GS -> tranny is absolutely shot. Buying a new one and looking for some local help with install, hopefully even a place to have it towed to work on (I live in DC and have no place to do this work). Possibly even replacing the rear main seal. I'm willing to pay for help depending on what one asks for ;P.

What happened was, I had a new clutch put in and from what I understand, the throwout bearing committed suicide and while I was driving, I felt the loss of power associated w/ an extremely slipping clutch. After pulling over, I noticed that ALL of my tranny fluid was pouring out of the release cylinder grommet and the inspection slide. After letting everything cool off I removed the grommet and felt around inside the bellhousihng, I found a circular chunk of shrapnel (maybe the size of a Gatorade cap) and numerous small pieces of steel (looked like small cigarette butts. cylindrical). From what I can see through said small hole, these pieces came from the gearing side of the transmission.

The small round pieces look like these:

In replacing the tranny, I'm going to put a new clutch in also. Thanks

Chris.
