Thanks for stopping in!

After I replaced my head gasket on my 420a, I turned the car on and three odd things happened.

1) The front wipers went on at max speed and would not go off

2) The SRS light came on

3) Temperature Gauge is not registering

The wipers stopped and haven't come back on like that.

I can fix the temperature gauge problem but I am just letting you know in case its related to my SRS light.

My SRS light is still glowing. Does anyone know why this may have happened? The fix seems easy enough but I want to know the root of the problem. If it is something serious i.e. an impact sensor, I do not want to just clear the light.

Any help is appreciated! :)

Thanks for the reply, Lee.

I have only driven the car once since the light came on so I'm hoping it was just a fluke and will shut off. If not, I will replace the computer under the center console and that should clear the light. I know the code cannot be cleared as easily as a CEL code. I read $60 at the stealership to take care of the light.

I have not necessarily seen this on a dsm, but I have seen a simple ground wire left unconnected cause wipers to run uncontrollably, grounding issues can cause many strange electrical issues. Perhaps dig around and make sure you haven't accidentally disconnected a ground wire somewhere under the hood or even inside the car somewhere.

It's often that weird problems like this boil down to something simple, hopefully this is the case here.
