98 GSX exhaust

Ok so from what I have read on the exhaust specs of my car... Stock exhaust piping is 2.5", correct?

To pass inspection, i needed a new flex pipe and a new cat(both rusted out)... I tell my local muffler shop that I want it replaced and money wasn't a problem, just fix it.....
Well he did... with a standard weld-on cat and a 2" flex pipe! How bad is this hurting my engine and turbo? They are no where close to the size of the OEM exhaust pipes

Well i just measured my stock 99 gsx O2 housing and its barely over 2". So whoever said it came stock with 2.5" is very wrong. My aftermarket apexi downpipe starts at 2.5" and goes to 3" after the flex pipe. If the stock exhaust system opens up after the downpipe (which I'm not sure it does) i doubt it goes bigger than 2.25". Is your car completely stock? If it is, then its not hurting anything at all because this is the stock setup for our cars. Could it benefit with bigger piping, of course but your still limited if everything else is stock.
