so motor started kncoking yesterday on my 95 n/t this is my only car and i need to get it back on the road asap...can ne one tell me how to pull the motor as fast as possible and also nne tricks or special things to do that will make this easier...will i need to pull tranny as well?...thanks in advance

I don't know the fastest way, but I don't think you'll have to pull the tranny. I didn't when I pulled my engine out of my 96 rs. It took me about 3 months due to working overnights full time, and getting everything prefect. The only advice I have to say is TAKE YOUR TIME!!!!! Also pick up a repair manual too like chiltons or a haynes. It gives you torque spec for every bolt in the motor.

Also you'll need a cherry picker, if you don't have one then I don't really know how you're gonna do it. Anyone else wanna shine some light on this?

No fastest way if you have to ask LOL. If its an auto you can leave the trans in, otherwise its easier to pull both.

Dissconnect battery, drain oil and coolant, unhook all coolant lines, remove wiring as neede, throttle cable, unbolt the a/c copressor and leave there if your worried about losing the charge.

Discconect exhaust and intake pipeing

Remove axles from trans, if required. Hook up engine hoist. Unbolt mount/s. Make sure you bring helpers to spot the stuff you inevitably forget about. Auto trans you have to unbolt the torque converter to flex plate, then the tranny.

All in all should take a unexperianced person 4-8 hours.

If your not familiar with it, label bolts and brackets. It'll save you time in the long run.

I just summed a long process in 3 mins, I'm sure I overlooked something. Use your head, the stuff is heavy, and expensive. Make sure you have the right hoist and chain it good.

If this is your first time pulling a motor all I can say is take your time, when you start lifting the motor out, lift it a couple of inches STOP and check for any wires/hoses (heater core, etc) make sure they aren't still connected. A load leveler is a nice thing to have as well, def worth the 50$

I haven't pulled a 420 out personally, but usually it is much much easier. Its your discretion.

I don't know, it went pretty smoothly without pulling out the tranny. I did end up getting it rebuilt anyways but also if you wanted to put any engine mods like better rods or better pistons, cams, and stuff like that this is the prefect time. I know this is pretty straight forward but some people rebuild the engine and then do that stuff afterwards like I wanted to do. I didn't cause I saved my money and got a GST.

thanks guys for all the advice..on my way to get a cherry picker and gonna start this afternoon

wisll a first gen neon motor fit?......so on my way to my buddys house i threw a rod thru the block and another thru the oil pan...but ne way a case of beer a few buddies a shit ton of sandwich baggies a sharpie and about 7 hrs later the motor is out..ill probably power was and clean the engine bay up while its awaiting another power plant...how much of a pain in the ass would it b to put a turbo motor in?? what all would i have to change?
