1997 gsx not staying running

i have a 1997 gsx i started got to the corner then it just shut down when i try to restart it will start and run fine for a about 10sec but then it will shut down if i disconnect the battery and do it it will run for awhile as long as i dont shut it down but it has no power im getting completely stumped ###z help

Have you checked the alternator?

Check your alternator fuse or your wiring that goes to the fuse box that leads to the alternator fuse... also maybe the alternator belt it loose.

100 bucks says its an alternator, first push on the belt and see if it moves more than an half an inch, if thats good, get a multimeter ($25 and get it from sears -they sell the best meters for the buck) and check the output volts on the alternator by putting red on the covered nut and then black to any metal ground should be 15.5 abouts. If all that checks good check your battery connections and engine ground.
