California modified car laws,

Im moving down to socal for upwords of a year. I will be bringing my mildly modded GSX with me. The car is regestered in WA so do I need to worry about the smog laws, I mean I have a WA regestration and a WA drivers license. My car has a cat back exhause, Dejon intake, aem adjustable cam gears, boost controler, and is lowered and more, I do have coilovers so I can raise it up a bit if i have to. I know im sopost to register down there within 20 days but im thinking if i get pulled over i can just say im visiting. I know they really have some strict laws when it comes to modified cars, but can i get away with it till i move back?

If your not staying permanently dont register it here, id try to get away with it as long as possible, lowered isn't really an issue... Is your exhaust loud, is it an N1 style of does it look more like a stock exhaust?

Try to get a fresh registration from WA before you come down here, then you'll be fine. CHP doesn't pull anyone over with out of state plates and illegal visual mods, if you don't drive like a jackass they'll look passed you like you're in a Prius.

No my exhausts is not super loud, I have two resonators for sound on there. and it is kind of conservative looking, I won't be driving like a jack ass, and my registration is good till oct. So I figured I could get away with it for a while, but I was just curious how aggressive the chp is down there, but if out of state plates squeeze by like a prius, I'm good, thanks guys.

You'll be fine, that Area is Pretty Lenient when is comes to modified Cars. SD, or NorCal different story. Just Keep is Civil when driving, and 74 Mph on the Fwy, and you'll never get bothered..75 and they got you, unless you're headed to Vegas, then keep it under 90.

Just be cool If you ever get pulled over, i was caught dead going 60 in a 30 one, cop just told me to slow down"of course he said it with much tougher words. As long as your car is not insainly loud" kinda not true ether, I know a 86 Drag monte carlo with insane motor that drives around South LA, and a Nova...both you can hear well over 10 blocks away" you should be fine. as far as the plates. I know someone thats been driving around for a year now on out of state plates. your cool bro

My plates are from AZ and I have a pretty notable car (paint scheme and all) and i've never been pulled over for just driving. Now, I have been pulled over for driving like a "jacka**" and I deserved every bit of it however, the officer was extremely cool and let me go with a warning. I did however, get a ticket for 5% tint and when I went to court about it I told them that I was visiting and that I had to come all the way back out to CA to take care of this. Yes, it was a lie however, I didn't have to take my tint off and the ticket got dismissed. It gets extremely hot out in this area and for them to be all nazi over 5% knowing temps get in excess of 120 is a bit ridiculous however, I'm not the law and well, I don't pretend to be either. I have a cat deleted cat back exhaust (Greddy) and i vent to the atmosphere with the type s. You should be alright, just like everyone says, if you're low key you'll be alright. Especially in LA, CHP and LAPD have much bigger fish to fry...
