Just got my first log. The car doesn't idle right (good 'ole idle surge) and we are still working on getting everything straight. Definitely seeing some knock. How exactly does "knock sum" work. When does it reset? Anyways, you guys can read this thing better than I can. It was on the way home tonight and includes a few launches. (including my first successful one :) )

Also, did I log the right things? Anything else I should be sure to log? I'm new to this whole logging things, and DSM's in general.

Thanks...

That's kind of hard to read, but the two things that stuck out to me are your front o2 sensor was acting weird. Sometimes when you were at WOT it would read 94-96 and other times it would read in the 20's and 30's.

The second thing is your coolant temp is getting pretty high (217). I would work on getting the temp down.

When you do another log, try and do just one thing at a time. Either log an idle, cruising, or a 3rd gear pull from 2k RPM to redline.

And please fill out your profile with your mods so we can help you out better.

In addition to what Brian mentioned:

You are knocking inconsistently, which would lead me to think boost leak. Get a BLT done. Might help with your idle surge, too.

You also don't need to log for that long, nor when car is just warming up. Logging launches doesn't really do much good either because the RPMs rise too fast for the resolution of the logger and there is less load on the motor at lower gears. It's also a PITA to dig through and look for relevant sections.

Just get the car to operating temp and catch 3-4 logs of a 3rd gear pull, going WOT starting from ~1.5k to ~7.2k.

My theory on the 02 sensor is that it could be because our exhaust manifold is cracked? We have a new one on the way. Could that cause it, or do we have a bad sensor? The car will not idle correctly... could this be the cause? Seems to be more of an issue when it warms up (the idle anyways).

The coolant issue is probably due to being a little low. We lost a bunch doing the intake manifold a couple of nights ago and it probably needs to be topped off again. What kind of numbers should I be looking for there?

Idle, crusing, or 3rd gear pull. Got it. Thanks for the tips!

There likely is still a boost leak. We did one a few days ago and have since replaced the intake manifold gasket but we have not done a follow up test yet. Hopefully that will help with the surge.

Will do better about when the logger is doing its thing. Thanks for the info. You guys have been lots of help!

Exhaust leak at manifold will definitely affect o2 readings, in addition to power loss and late spool of turbo.

Ideal coolant temps are 190*-200*F.

BLT is a must.

Good deal, that manifold should be in soon. Thanks!

How much boost are you running, with what turbo? And what are you using to tune?

Your timing advance looks pretty high, about 22 degrees at only 6000 rpms when you did go wot. Thats a little high imo, but it all depends on how much boost you are runnin. With this timing advance it seems like you may be running a safc maybe.

If you want help with a wot log please post a 3rd gear pull from 2k to redline(snowborder already covered this), and specify the time frame that it is in. I dont know if you should do this untill you figure out your knock issue though. Or atleast get something to tune with.

Log your injector duty cycles if possible.

Stock turbo, stock boost. 92 Talon TSi 5spd. No SAFC or anything like that. We haven't advanced the timing. Could it be acting weird because of the boost leak and/or manifold?

Maybe with stock boost 22 degrees of advance is normal with the stock turbo.
