ok guys for some odd reason i gotta have my CAS sensor tilted all the way forward toward front of car if not car wont run right. Misses and carry's on, with it tilted it runs fine till about 5k then it starts popping sometimes it will do it sometimes it wont.. anyways I put in a Walbro 190 b/c I was runnning out of fuel on my 1st log. 2 different logs.

I just got an SAFCII but have not had time to hook it up yet.

car was fully warmed up, 2nd gear pull, I left the decelration on it so you could see the timing goin nuts.

Give us a 3rd gear pull from 2500 rpm on up, and only log timing, knock, throttle position, and maybe rpm.
 
Is it me or 22 degrees of timing at 6500 RPM with 110-120% duty cycle too high. I think you should try to turn your cas slighty back a notch or two. Whats your fuel injector size and are you running a turbo? It doesn't say in your profile and if its stock fuel injectors, an SAFC won't do much at all unless you have a wide band. If you have taken away fuel on the SAFC it can contribute to high timing as well because the SAFC is stupid like that LOL, but thats if you have larger fuel injectors.

Your saying you can't put the Cas in the middle, maybe you have it in backwards. Check if its not 180 degrees out. Thats all I can tell you my friend.
 
Well if you need to move your CAS that much, it might be broken. That'd be my first suspect (after making sure it was installed correctly).

ok as for mods I am all stock other than a 190 walbro. 450cc injectors, 14b turbo I took the N/T motor out and put thios turbo motor in along with ECU and harness. someone told me that my CAS might be 180 out so I switched it around and done another log but i dont think that was my problem.

Fuel pressure? Did you get the turbo FPR? I don't understand why your injectors are getting such high duty cycles.

And you needed to reset base timing after flipping the CAS. Are you sure you are at 5* BTDC?
 
yes i got the turbo FPR and Rail.
 
well I dont have a Timing light so I really wasn't able to set the base timing is their a way I can do it by looking at the logger?

Holy jesus.

You've been "setting base timing" without a timing light?

There's (one of) your problem.

No the logger can't be used, it is assuming base timing is already set correctly.

Go get a timing light, you'll use it plenty of times to make it worth the $8.

No NO NO NO I had it set with a Timing light before i started messing with stuff. I had a friend do it and he is at work now. thats why i dont have a Timing light. and where in the heck do ya get a Timing light at for 8.00? All the ones I've seen are like 50-150.00



Also I got the money to get a set of 550 injectors should I go ahead and get them?

If it quits raining today I'm going to put the SAFCII in just so it's in their when I do need it.

I was exaggerating on the $8.

The first time you messed with the CAS after the timing was set you changed it, so who knows what it's been at from that point on. Go to autozone, walmart, etc. It's not a complicated machine. You should easily be able to find one for $20-$25.
 
ok I'll get a Timing light later today and set the timing you said l;ast night correct way to set the cas is put engine TDC and then put the CAS in is their a Vfaq or anything on it? b/c I'm going to recheck all my timing stuff 1 more time before i go any further.

First thing you should do is put the Cas right in the middle. If your timing is still a little too much, start to retard it be moving the CAS up slowly at a time until you see about 18 degrees around 6500-7000 RPM. Try logging your TPS as well, and how much boost are you running?

I am running 9 1/2 - 10psi of boost. Ok on the CAS the ends are different. one side has a lil notch in it and one side dont. I would say teh notch goes toward teh front of the car when engine is TDC. the reaon I am not going up to 7k is b/c the car starts popping about 5-6 K and I'm afraid of going any further.

the motor was just rebuilt about 1,300 miles ago and I done everything myself. all stock internals 6bolt.

at WOT the TPS is reading 99.4 I know that at WOT the TPS should read 100. I did not have the car runnning when i checked the TPS I had ignition on.

You don't have to worry about that, just get your timing light and set it up to 5 degree BTDC.

Don't I? Funny that I have always been over 20 degrees at redline...

Besides, running 20 degrees at 10psi is fine, if he was pushing 20psi I'd be worried, but high timing with low boost is not very dangerous. The ECU runs timing in the upper 30's-40's when there is no boost.

Additionally we already know his base timing is off, so it's not like he is REALLY running 25 degrees of timing, the logger thinks the timing is that high because the base is off but it's calculating thinking it is at 5*.

How about he just leaves it where it was and just doesn't drive at WOT on his way to get a timing light? :thumb:
 
I most definitely am not going to drive it WOT to get the timing light might even have my g/f pick it up. anyways I set the TPS according to the logger fully depressed 99.6 is all i could get at idle 7.0 TPS.

BTW, your throttle readings dont need to be at 100%. The ECU will see WOT as it is now. :thumb:
 
No one thought to see if his duty cycle numbers were consistent with his rpm and pulse width values?
