Having an issue with my 2nd gen GSX. While car is ideling I am getting a ticking/knocking noise coming from the belt area.it goes away as soon as you rev the engine at all.Having the clutch in or out dosent change it either.was wondering if anyone is in the Lewisberry area that may be able to help me diagnosis the problem.I have been out of the dsm world for awhile and just recently purchased this car. Any help would be appreciated. The car is a 1997 with a 95 motor that was rebuilt about 40k miles ago. I am hoping this isn't a sign of crankwalk.I have no problems when you are driving clutch works fine.i have just had it sitting the past few days as I don't want to drive it until I figure out the problem.thanks

Sounds like you have lifter tick, you can clean out the ones that you have or get a set of revised lifters. Hope that helps.

update:

I tore down the timing cover today to see if there was anything noticeably wrong which there isn't. It has also started making a chirping noise when the clutch is depressed its quieter when the clutch is not engaged. Noise still coming from the driver side timing area.I also pulled on the crank pulley and there is play as there was a noticeable knock when I shoved it in then pulled it out.It didn't move a great deal but enough to hear what seems like to crank hitting.
