ok right now i have a 96 Eclipse n/t with quite a bit of money into it. I'de say around 3k in everything. I currently have enough money ($3200) to buy me a star stage 2 kit. But ive also been thinking about buying a 1g awd for about $3500. So what should I do....Keep the 2gnt and turbo it...or buy a 1g awd and HAVE TWO CARS. The 2gnt would be my daily driver, and the 1g awd would be my "weekend car". Or, another idea....buy the 1g awd with the money i have, sell the 2gnt, and then put about $6000 into the 1g right away.....PLEASE HELP ME DECIDE. I have no clue what to do....what would you do if you were in my position.

I never advocate turbocharging a model if it's available from the manufacturer. Not that there aren't many successful add-ons out there, but why do the work and take the risks?

And get AWD while you're at it, too :thumb:

1G AWD, bought mine for $800, have spent like 4K in her so far..... one of the best cars I have ever driven :thumb:

sell the 2g, go with the 1g and dump all the money you get off the 2g into it, than its like 2 cars into one, probably like adding the hp from the 2g and putting it onto the 1g, heh. Stroker!!!

When faced with such a conflagration, you should ask yourself, what would Jared do?

Have a sweet onion chicken teriyaki on wheat... oh, and go with the 1G AWD, sell the NT and drop the money into the 1G...

That's what I would do if I had it all to do again... and I'm sure that's what Jared would do.

Go with the 1G and get rid of the 2G. You will thank yourself once you put some time and money into it.

1g awd. they might not be as sexy as 2g's. but when it comes to the 1/4 mile, theyre spoiled bastards. running 12's with bolt ons

get the 1g for your weekend car and the 2g for the daily driver. thats what ill hopefully be doin soon cuz you will never get the power that you really want outta your 2g till you drop a shitload of money into it and you could prolly end up gettin more power from the 1g for half the money imo:dsm:

I'd have to disagree with most statements here. I'd say buy the 1G AWD, and keep the 2G as a daily driver. No, it's not gonna be fast, and it may take you awhile to get some mods done to the 1G, but at this point (and I don't know your age or what other cars you've owned, BUT)....you're used to NT, so a 1G AWD should seem fast enough for you "for a while". Then save some more cash, and mod it slowly. That's what I'd do.....cause modded cars break, and it's nice having a back up.

Buy the 1g, and keep the 2g for daily driving because if you mod the 1G, you'll need a car to get you around while the 1G is being worked on.

ok, well im 17, and take home about $450 a month...LOL, i put all my money into my car. I seriously starve myself to put money into my car. My dad hates the 1g's and thinks im an idiot for selling my car and getting a 1g awd ha ha but he doesnt know much about DSM's. Anyways, thanx for your replies...im still stuck on what to do tho...

I say buy the 1g, sell your 2g and if you need a daily buy a cheap honda then use the rest of the money on the 1g. But if you can get a ride while your dsm is broke just save it up or dump it in the 1g.

I'd keep the 2G as it is for a daily driver. Any 13 year old car will need some work right off the bat or not too far down the road. $3K into a 1G should get you pretty far along on both the maintenance and performance paths. When you snap a bolt off in the head or bust a rear axle on a Sunday night, you will still be able to get to work in the morning if that 2G is sitting in the driveway. I prefer the 1Gs for everything, but some would argue with a 1G and a 2G, you'll have show and go.

no, i havent sold the 2g yet....some guy offered me 7k today for my car. i was soooooo close to selling it.. But i just dont know yet, having a turbo 420a would be so sweet, but then again a 1g awd is just so incredibly easy to make fast and the awd is tyte.

2gs look good, so keep it, and buy the 1g, and gradually build it up

im agreeing with 97eclipseRS in that you should daily the 2g and weekend the 1g

somethin will most likely break on the 4g63, so that daily would be nice...especially since its a dsm :)
