right now I plan on selling my 95 RS with a few mods to get a 1st gen GSX or GST. My question is, is it possible to tow a small trailer for my dirtbike with one? The max weight of the trailer and bike combined would be around 500 pounds at most. My only other option is to buy a truck :barf: which would be really lame.

damn. Well it looks like Im am done with DSM's then. I really dont want to get a truck, but since I like riding my bike I will have to get one. What are some SMALL trucks that have potential to be fast and look alright?

I'm sure you can put a hitch on there with little trouble. When I go to Autocrosses and other events there are Miatas and such carrying small trailers with their extra sets of wheels with slicks & tooks, and I'm sure they're not supposed to tow anything either.

So I say just go for it :thumb:

I'm buying a 01 sea doo GS with the trailer (approx 600lbs) on monday, and I was wondering would that be too much weight to hitch to the rear of my car? I think so, but my buddy is telling me NO ... we used to pull a ski with his girls little CRX and it was fine but my car is also lowered about 2inch all around and FWD, so I don't think it would work!
None the less I have 2,867,420 friends with trucks so it wouldn't be a big deal to find someone willing to go jet skiing for a day! But if I could hitch it to my ride ... EVEN BETTER!

Page 140, from your Owner's Manual: "TRAILER TOWING Do not use your car to tow a trailer."

Nice picture of a Flintstone car being tailgated by a camper with a big X through it.

Still, it's your car, misuse it as you like.

hey NO, thanks man ... I don't have an owners manual so I didn't know! cool ... looks like I will rely on friends to tow, BUT hey you wanna ride you gotta put in your work too right?

i saw someone with a turbo 1g awd towing a fuggin schooner down the road. i was like WTF????!!?!?!? tho i guess our cars have better torque and hp then some of these trucks

Trying to sell the car for a truck so i can tow my quad but its bteen difficult. Thinking about just getting a tow package for now and towing it around since i know it has the power to pull a trailer. Anyone ever heard of a tow kit for a 2g eclipse? Know where i can buy one?

Thanks

I remember seeing a 2G on this site that was pulling a Rave Runner.. Check out the gallery, maybe u can find it.

I remember seeing this one too...I think it was a black GSX...the car itself looked pretty nice, if I remember correctly.

He said he never had any problems with towing anything, no trouble taking off or excessive engine wear or anything of the like.

You'll have to see if you can find him, and contact him bout it.

Hope this helps a little.

in the 2g manual i'm pretty sure it says your not supposed to tow things. but w/ that being said, i had one on my car i'll post the brand in the morning. I'd sell it to you but i cut it in half to make a tool w/ it :D

I wouldn't try it!!!

I just bought a jet ski, a Kawasaki ZXI 1100 and with trailer and all I'm pulling almost 1200lbs, the smallest of jet ski's weighs 375lbs not including trailer which weigh's approx. 200-300lbs!
AWD or not your putting major stress on your drivetrain! This guy want's to tow a quad which doesn't weigh nearly as much as a jet ski so he may be o.k.!!!! I would just buy a little beater truck to haul it around with and save the wear and tear on the DSM!
