The ole lady had a volvo turbo car. Pretty decent turbo sedan. needed more boost though and a stronger transmission.

I was more impressed with the individual cylinder ignition retard on knock. If you had a race motor you could just crank up the timing until it knocked then let the ecu sort it out for more power. With our engines it doesn't gain us anything to go past 3counts because the retard is global. Obviously I'm ignoring standalones in my statement.

I have an S80 T6 and a 1gb so I will chime in here. Only the R series of Volvo's are any count. The after market for the Volvos is crappy at best, and the GM era of Volvos history is the worst. Dont get me wrong, the S80 I have rides like a Caddy and handles very well for a full size car (with a fully functional back seat) but they can hardly handle the power they have stock, much less once you up the boost. If someone would build a decent trans. they could be powerhouses. I never understood why put a motor with near 300ftlbs of torque with a trans. that cant handle it. Most Volvos are not tuner friendly. The people that buy these cars buy them to drive, and thats pretty much it.
