YouTube - Matt and "The Monster"- Rock Art Brewery vs. Monster Energy Drink

Please take the small amount of time to watch the video and listen to this story. Monster is trying to bully a local brewery in my town and I'd like to do as much as I can to make sure Rock Art wins this battle. I used to drink about 3-5 Monsters a week, I won't again. If you want to help show support there is a group on Facebook and you can forward and post this on the other forums you browse. Thanks for the space guys! :hellyeah:

That's messed up man. I never even liked Monster, I'm a Bawls and Redbull man myself, but I'll spread this on...Hopefully Monsters scheme won't even work.

well personally I am in favor of that guy but whos company was around first? his or monster?

Besides monster sucks and his beer probably sucks but its the point of the matter that monster will take them to court until he cant afford it anymore and cause him to fold.

Thats the business world.

i dont get monster anymore anyways, amp tastes better

PIMking im going to have to disagree -- i dont think that just because a business has more money means that it will automatically be able to win in court based on what the guy in the video was saying. More money might mean better lawyers but it seemed like he was saying that monster was basically buying out the court system.

Who cares which business was around first, that's not how trademarks and copy writes work. They are making a ridiculous allegations that state they think people will get their products confused and want them to stop using the name "Vermonster" for their beer. His beer doesn't suck but even if it did I would support my local economy.

My point of this thread is to spread news of this BS and help Rock Art win this battle against a huge corporation. After 5 days, the group on facebook is about to hit 6000 supporters and it's growing fast. If people keep their word and stop spending money on their products and let Monster know what they think about this situation, then Rock Art has a chance. BTW Rock Art is about 2 minutes up the road from me, locally owned and managed. :hellyeah:

Thank you for promoting this video. It's a nice gesture for the guy who is getting railroaded. I will say this: Even in America, the more money you have will help you in a courtroom. Unless it's a small-town judge in Vermont, then you'll lose. It's sad what $ CAN do in our country, but I'm proud to know that a few small voices will get heard, and could make the difference. And our country is all about small business, and could care less about the millionares. I guess it depends on the judge.......

Small business and Beer FTW!!! :hellyeah:

dont get me wrong I'm on his side. But I'm playing devils advocate too. Monster didn't just become some huge company from the first day they started.

Your telling me that if your a CEO or president of a company and some other company is using your name illegally your not going to stop them? If you say you would let them do that then your an absolute mind numbing stupid. It's business, I hope this guy the best of luck but sorry to say it hes done unless he changes his companies name.

If I started a energy drink called friendweiser I'm sure anheusier busch would be all on my ass. TBQH it's just the way the wild world works.

Sorry you got your panties into a wad.

^^When was the last time you had a serving of ass to know what it tastes like? Jk but seriously screw corporations. This dude seems cool as hell, I sure hope he gets to keep his bussiness the way it is, hes worked to hard to have to have some judge tell him he has to change the name.

i like monster as a company, dont purchase their drinks too often but i love their participation in action sports and the things they do for the scene. but that is pretty jewish of them.

Fed Bull isnt Redbull, it could be an almost exact logo with different colors and its still not copyrighted by Redbull.

It would be different if the guy was slandering Monster or making a product with all the same ingredients and marketing tactics, but even then...its still not the same.

Vanilla Ice used a sample in Ice Ice Baby that was 1 note different, sure it pissed people off, but it was different none the less (just as an example...no i dont listen to VI LOL)

Honestly I feel bad for the guy, but I don't think he has a chance against such a huge corporation. Sad to say but money will always get you out on top. Hes better off changing the name of the beer over fighting and wasting money over a battle he has no chance of winning.

The guy isn't saying that Monster can buy the court system out. But basically that even if he wins the case Monster can then come back and appeal the decision. Monster would be able to do this over and over again and never take a huge hit to their pocket in which the little business would and eventually end up going bankrupt. I hope best for the guy but in all reality if Monster does fight this and even gets to the point of appealing they will win eventually. But most likely this guy will get a huge sum of money by making some type of deal outside the court system. so him and his family will be extremely well off. Which makes me think what if he is just trying to hype it up so he can get an even bigger settlement with all the new publicity.

so wait, the beer is called "Vermonster?"

itll get thrown out of court. Hell even if the beer was called something like "Monster Brew" it would get chucked out of the courtroom.

Monster can only go after companies that are called Monster, not with Monster as their product type.

However knowing our ####tarded judicial system, this case will actually see trial. I <3 Monster Java, but would switch to Rockstar Coffee drinks if they succeed. I could see if it was a bigger beer company that had a "Monster" beer, then yeah that makes sense. If Sam Adams makes a beer called "Monster Hopps" then people might see it as a Monster product or collaboration, when this is not so, thus they (monster) would have a case. Some random micro-brewer based out of Vermont with just one product type that is even a made-up word? cmon.

I don't drink energy drinks but this sucks. I hope there's enough media to stop the lawsuits. Doubt it though.

I heart Rock Art thiiiiiiiiiiiiiis much! :hellyeah:

Still have 2 growlers sitting in my kitchen that I never returned from back in the day :thumb:

Sorry you got your panties into a wad.

Where in my post did you get my "panties are in a wad"? All I posted were facts and more info on this. This isn't about me, it's not about a love of beer, it's about keeping huge corporations in line and keeping a small business just that, in business. But you really might want to do some research before you make yourself look like more of an ass, as your talking out of it ATM.

Thanks to anyone who's helping out, spreading the word or just telling a friend. :applause:
