I never have anything to do at work so I figured I would make myself useful this morning. A few days ago I made a rear o2 sensor bypass/simulator following this tech article. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=221951

When I got to work I started spacing out as usual and just blank staring my desk. Then I saw a junk hard drive laying there in all it's busted glory. So I got to it and started gutting it. Now I have a case for my o2 simulator. Alright!!! I also made a pretty label on my printer with some labels I found in the supplies room.

Now I can just plug it in, throw it under the seat, and pass emissions since the o2 was snapped in half.

You should just go emissions exempt. You can do this if you drive the car less than 5000 miles per year. Then you can take all the emissions out!

That simulator does look really professional though!

I should have under 5000 miles but I have this just in case. I'm putting the dsmlink ecu in once I get inspected this weekend.

Most of the emmisons stuff is out..:shhh:

That's pretty sweet. I think I want your job, sounds like office space LOL

Question, does this mean you can drive on the street w/o a cat?

I wonder if they have anything like this in NJ? If not, well then it's just one more reason to the many I already have supporting moving into PA.

Very nice work housegsx! That will make for a very clean install :thumb:

Yes. Turbosax2 and I just got rid of ALL the emissions on my car. Next time I go for emissions, I'll tell them I need special tags and that I've driven under 5k miles in the past year (and the special tags even cost less too :thumb:)

Nice work, my questions is how the hell do you guys not drive your DSM more then 5000 a year? I love driving mine cant stay out of it.

I don't want to put a lot of miles on it commuting from work/school to home all the time. Plus if I have a longer distance drive or take other people with me, I won't take the Eclipse because of it being noisy and a very rough ride. Plus, I really don't drive it in the winter if I don't have to. Turbo FWD car in snow isn't good (plus, they lay down A LOT of salt and cinders around me). If I had a garage, it would definitely be a garage queen ;)

Yeah I used to put 15k+ miles a year on the car before I wised up and bought a daily driver. Now I can use the DSM for pure fun on nice days and have as much down time as needed while modding. Although I wish I had another for my daily driver. My Sentra se-r sucks a big one.

I will test this thing out once I get my battery relocation finished and can fire up the car.

Ingenuity is definitely a trait of yours, Erik. Thats kinda funny LOL but it does look clean. :thumb:

I used 4 50ohm/10watt resistors to spread out the heat some as some people recommend. I was concerned with heat and that is why I decided to put it in this case. I'll let everyone know how hot the case gets when I get a chance to plug it in.

I gotta get me a shitbox. :(

Update: After driving the car for a while the case is getting pretty hot, but nothing to be concerned with. The outside of it feels like a hot coffee mug.

Good to know. You should consider cutting a couple holes in the sides, to let some of the heat escape.

Do the math 5000/52 weeks = 96 miles a week, which isn't that little.

Damn, I drive my car about 300 miles a week. Living in the L.A. suburbs and commuting can get you. I ride my bicycle about 96 miles a week though.:D

The case does have a couple small holes to let heat escape. The drive case was already like that.
This was more less just to test it out etc and I doubt I'll ever use it other than possibly getting inspected. I won't need it this year because I only put 3400 miles on the car and I don't need emissions testing. And I can turn off the check with dsmlink the rest of the time it's unhooked.

Really good to know. This guide makes it seem that the box would end up buring through the carpet or some crap like that.
