HDR (Home Depot Racing) Front Lip, seriously

I doubt they did... I've seen a few discussions a while back on home depot front lips here in the forums - not garage door insulation but landscaping plastic, the type that separates the lawn from the shrubs. Not sure why an Evo owner is doing something like that though.

Christ, this guy is all about HDR, huh? LOL (Someone remember's your comment in that Cheap Injector O-Ring Replacement guide. ;))

It doesn't work so well when all of the air coming through the radiator is exiting underneath the vehicle. It negates the purpose of creating a low pressure zone under the vehicle. Not to mention, the underside of a DSM is about as aerodynamic as the Himalayas.

If you ducted the air coming through the radiator through a hood vent, the results would be better. Then again, you would have to figure out another way to cool the engine bay.

I've done the lawn edging thing, the results were not noticeable for me at least. It wasn't a matter of bracing, it was extremely stiff. Unfortunately, the roads around here quickly took a toll on it. Perhaps someday when I'm really bored at work (not anytime recently) I'll mess around with ducting the radiator.

thank god he didnt attempt to do that to the 'term.

people have been using that for years now, im sure there are many a 2g with the HDR front lip.

I doubt whoever does this mod is going for an actual aerodynamic improvement. It looks good and that's about it.

Well obviously. I don't think any one took in to consideration the aerodynamic effects of it.

what do you guys think?
for me it looks pretty nice!!

Looks like you should have bought just a little bit more lip and sent me the extra. LOL I'm not really into the whole cheap lip thing. If I was going to get one I would buy a real lip. I just don't like knowing the fact its that cheap and I'd rather it be PERFECT. But its your car. What makes you happy makes me happy.

Just a few more inches lower and it'll be a pebble plow. Your intercooler fins would love you. ;)

Doesn't look horrible. Not too shabby. Cost? (Under $10? :sneaky: )
