Well ladies and gents I am looking for a couple opinions on the best portable navigation systems. I'm just in need of something a little bit better for navigating other than the girlfriend who falls asleep 5 minutes into any car ride. Any opinions and experience would be more than helpful. Thanks!

You may have better luck if you can navagate your way to a spell checker.

Fixed, sorry about that. I think I am leaning towards the Garmin. It looks to be the most efficient for the money. As far as best bang for the buck it looks like it is hard to compete with the Street Pilot. Thank you for the feedback, quick responses, and your time. :thumb:

This is the one I bought for my chick. Garmins, from my experience, are the most user-friendly. You can find em online for 200-some bucks. It was either that one or this TomTom. I found they pretty much have the same features..just the Tom Tom is thinner; it was also about 75 bucks more expensive everywhere I looked (Ebay, Amazon, etc). So I went with the Garmin.

The Nuvi is pretty nice. Also, don't rule out all the 2 DIN head units that come with navigation now.

I have the Garmin street pilot as well, it's a pretty nice and affordable unit. I think I payed about $75 for it on ebay.

Some of those (If not all of them) are like in-dash DVD players..won't let you do anything while you're actually driving. So either you get a 'black box' to bypass it, or you have to stop the car every time you even want to do anything on the damn thing. Also all the ones I've seen haven't been too user-friendly.
