Well my car was in storage this whole winter, at someone who I knows garage. So finally went to get ready to work on it again since I melted a piston. And this is the site that I saw this morning! There is, or was a I-beam holding the roof up and decided to fall down on my car. Also knocking over a metal shelve with my cams etc on! We are hoping he's house insurance would cover it, bc I take my insurance off when I store it. Anyone know what this would cost to fix?

Man, a I beam holding up the ceiling? Doesnt seem like a safe place to keep the car. With the work needed, I would say around $1,500.

that dent up on the roof is gonna be a pain in the a$$. a carbon hatch might be suttin to look into they only like 500 bucks. well good luck wit it man

Yeah I am going to see what the insurance company says and maybe I can get a carbon hatch out of the deal! I saw a few on Ebay but shipping for them are unreal.

I feel your pain. When I purchased my Tsi the old owner said I could leave the car at his place for a couple weeks until I could arrange for a flatbed to haul it to my place. A large build up of snow on his shop roof caused it to collapse on the car.

Well from know on I will remember the insurance! Any insurance guys in here that would know under what this would fall under? I'm guessing damage to someone else's property?

I do home owners and to be honest I don't know if they will cover any of the damages to your vehicle. This is why storage insurance is offered for vehicles.

I'm not a csi or anything, but you have to explain to me where in the heck tha beam was. Was it standing straight up like a brace? Or across the ceiling? It's final resting place just looks really really odd.

It was braced against the ceiling by two "jacks" pressing the beam against the ceiling if thats what you would call it, and the one fell forward and the other one fell backwards twisting the beam in the air bringing it down most of the lenght of the car.

Wow, looks like some decent damage. The most comes from the hatch, wich you can fix by getting a CF hatch. Then the back part of the roof would need fixing. The rest is little paint work. How about a junkyard that has a good price on the hatch part. Or get the ebay ones, not sure if they come with glass tho.

i work for metlife claims and this comes up all the time. i know for a fact they wouldnt cover it on the home policy due to the damage being on the car. now for example if that beam fell on an expensive snap on tool chest that very well maybe covered. is that not f`d up. i cancel my insurance too

Man thats sux! Instead of $20 a month for insurance and like $50 or so for storage your gonna end up having to sell you kidney and maybe a lung!LOL. But good luck to you bro. let us know what the quote is

Its gonna be a whole lot more than 1500 bucks I can tell you that. We had a 98 eclipse gs come into a shop that I used to work at. It had under 100k miles and pretty decent shape. Well, a tree branch fell on the roof and did a little more damage to the roof than yours. It didnt crush the roof or anything like that, just a nice healthy dent on the roof and hatch and the glass was broke. Well to make a long story short, the car was totalled out. I hope you know a body guy to help you out.

I've had home owner's pay for damage that happened to my car while parked on my property and they did not give me any trouble at all. Paid for it in full minus my deductible.
