TPG Tuning Update: Putting an end to the slipping clutch

So the 2900 just wasn't having any of it anymore. It's been slipping decently ever since the slicks went on. So I went ahead and manned up to put an end to that garbage. Put it on the scale and she weighed about 14.5lbs for flywheel and all. 9's on pump gas here we come.

Damn that clutch looks mean. Good luck getting into the 9's on pump. Thats just insane. You already have a good timeslip on pump.

wtf company makes that? thats the smallest pressure plate I've ever seen. The bolt holes for it aren't even at the edge of the flywheel.

I haven't gotten my car to the point where I would need a twin disk clutch yet, so why would I look into that kind of stuff? The act design is a tried and true system that seems to work and have a good application for whatever your needs are. Last time I checked, shep is running a 3200....

Why do you say that? Twin/triple disk clutches are actually easier on your tranny that a super heavy single disk.

Plus the fact that my tranny isn't going anywhere. And Shep hasn't run a 3200 for a long long time.

i had a friend brake a shep trannie with a twin disk set up in less than a week. It can vary but its not recommendable even by shep.

2) What can "vary"?
3) Did you talk to Shep yourself and get that advice, because I heard him recommend a twin disk to someone with my own ears just last month?

even if I put $10k into my tranny, I wouldn't make a statement like that. It may not be likely to break, but even when you've taken ever precaution possible, something like TWO broken water pumps in a row could ruin your WHOLE season. Especially if you look like a banana....

and as for the whole shep not running a 3200 anymore... my bad, I didn't know that.

No worries, you definetely aren't the only one, I know I didn't find out until long after it was announced. Plus, though its public knowledge now, I don't think ACT is yelling it from the rooftops, Shep still sells a lot of clutches for them. There is some misleading information in this thread though, and that's the type of thing that gives the forum a bad name if not cleared up.
