So the 2900 just wasn't having any of it anymore. It's been slipping decently ever since the slicks went on. So I went ahead and manned up to put an end to that garbage. Put it on the scale and she weighed about 14.5lbs for flywheel and all. 9's on pump gas here we come.

wtf company makes that? thats the smallest pressure plate I've ever seen. The bolt holes for it aren't even at the edge of the flywheel.
 
you are a true DSM owner. You even have the empty pill bottle in the background, so i am guessing that means you are/were getting ready for the install.

I haven't gotten my car to the point where I would need a twin disk clutch yet, so why would I look into that kind of stuff? The act design is a tried and true system that seems to work and have a good application for whatever your needs are. Last time I checked, shep is running a 3200....

Why do you say that? Twin/triple disk clutches are actually easier on your tranny that a super heavy single disk.
 
i had a friend brake a shep trannie with a twin disk set up in less than a week. It can vary but its not recommendable even by shep.

2) What can "vary"?
3) Did you talk to Shep yourself and get that advice, because I heard him recommend a twin disk to someone with my own ears just last month?
4) Your friend doesn't know how to drive.

even if I put $10k into my tranny, I wouldn't make a statement like that. It may not be likely to break, but even when you've taken ever precaution possible, something like TWO broken water pumps in a row could ruin your WHOLE season. Especially if you look like a banana....

and as for the whole shep not running a 3200 anymore... my bad, I didn't know that.

No worries, you definetely aren't the only one, I know I didn't find out until long after it was announced. Plus, though its public knowledge now, I don't think ACT is yelling it from the rooftops, Shep still sells a lot of clutches for them. There is some misleading information in this thread though, and that's the type of thing that gives the forum a bad name if not cleared up.;)
