Well over the winter, with alot of help from Paul_s I added a Magnus SMIM, FP2x cams, 1g TB, manley springs and retainers, arp head studs, mitsu MLS gasket, ported the head, got rid of the entire AC system, filled the motor mounts, yada yada yada...Ohh yah and a full Timing Belt Job.

Now that I've had the car out for a couple days I thought I would give my Initial impressions.

The Install of the cams was very straight forward, just drop em in. The magnus on the other hand requires a little more inginuity.

These cams Idle almost like stock, at first I needed 850 to make them smooth but now that the ECU has relearned they Idle at 750 all day with just a hint of lope to them, around town driving is just fine, never stalls or anything.

The power Increase up top is just amazing this thing just pulls and pulls. I am flowing more air at 20psi then i was last year at 24psi. I did lose a couple hundred rpm's in spool up as was to be expected but the trade off was well worth it. I get 20psi in 5th right around 3500-3600 for reference.

The around town driveability of the car hasn't changed at all, feels exactly the same as last year. If there is a low end loss I can't tell. The car seems runs cooler now with the AC condensor gone which is nice.

I'm slowly turning the boost back up and I'm right around 23.5psi, hitting 2600hz on the S-AFC.

Basically I couldn't be happier, the driveability of the car hasn't changed at all but the top end is insane. Our Local Track opens Aprill 22nd...I'll be looking for 11's on straight pump gas :thumb:

Well after weeks of frustration I finally got my logger working...turns out my tune is lacking.

Last year on a good tune(19 degree's of timing) and a good day I would see around 38-39lbs/min. On the couple 3rd gear pulls I just did a saw 43lbs/min and a whopping 13 degree's of timing. So I picked up 40hp with a brutal tune, once I get it dialed back in i'm sure I'll pick of a couple more lbs/min.

can you give a number of how much your coolant temps droped with removing the a/c? also can you tell you have cams at all by the sound of the exhaust?

It idles almost like stock but with just a little lope...it's barely noticeable.

As for the coolant temps I'll have to do some logs and check that.

yeah im seriously thinking about pulling my a/c because of coolant temps. i dunno how hot it is there but it gets pretty hot here ushally in the high 90s all summer long.
