Ok I'm not trying to infringe on anyone's beliefs or anything with my statements here....but it's driving me crazy and if you seriously think
about this then it will probably drive you crazy too.

Think about space, the infinity of it and it will drive you crazy. I mean the Sh*t never ends, WTF is out there? You can't imagine it, it's impossible and I hate the fact that
we can't figure it out which is driving me crazy. Even if there's something out "there" as a barrier....there must be something beyond it?!
I'm going crazy thinking about this, and as I was on this same topic in my head. I started thinking about what happens when you die, because no one will know until you die
but there must be something. I mean space goes on forever and ever, it's not like we can just die....and nothing else happens.
Think about if you were never here which you can't do for more than a few milliseconds, not what would change if you weren't here, but you as a being couldn't think about yourself. Your head can't even begin to think that so it's not like it can just stop, which leads back into the space argument, I mean it's infinity, somethings got to happen.

Sorry for rambling here but, lets figure this out guys....LOL, I mean what's your thoughts on this crazy sh*t?

When I was in my drug stage of life (4 months 13 days and counting) I used to think about this to. It scared me to death. :notgood:

The Universe does have an end.. however, since it is always expanding, we will never reach it. Even if we could reach the border, we'd have to be traveling at a faster rate than what the Universe is expanding at. Besides, what's past the end? WTF

Yes.. far too many hallucinogens. A wonderful gateway to untold countless worlds.

Yeah unfortunately no drugs were part of these thoughts. I had a bonfire the other night and at like midnight when all the losers were sleeping or gone I was looking up at the sky because it was actually pretty clear out, and that led to.....

I mean that's what I say when people come up with this crap too is drugs but I mean it's not like you can deny that it's happening or going on. Don't be oblivious to what's going on, that's half the reason we havn't discovered more about our universe because everyone's oblivious to what we can discover. So our politicians find it necessary to:
  • The Defense Department wasted $100 million on unused flight tickets, and never bothered to collect refunds even though the tickets were reimbursable
  • Food stamp overpayments cost $600 million annually
  • The federal government spends $23 billion annually on special interest pork projects such as grants to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, or funds to combat teenage “goth” culture in Blue Springs, Missouri.
I mean some of these are probably a little biased in the programs they go to but the space program is like the most criticized program in the US. Everyone always goes to it when government waste is mentioned meanwhile everyone fails to recognize the other programs which not only waste money but make absolutely no sense.
When will people learn that space education can help us more than scientific experiments on monkeys or "teenage goth culture"?

I always think about this stuff exactly. I do sort of believe in reincarnation though. That as soon as you die your imedietly transformed into another human being but you never have any knowledge of it. I hate the fact that we won't ever really know what happens when you die or how far space is...but it is very interesting to think about.

To be honest, we won't ever find out the answers to any of these questions, among all the other popular ones like "are there aliens?" etc etc because we'll be dead, so I don't bother wasting my time wondering about it. I try to concentrate on more relevant things in my life like "should I buy Civilization 4 or pay the rent"

Unless you believe in reincarnation, but then again, I certainly don't remember my "past lives" if there were indeed any, so "I", as I am now, won't even find out.

Now maybe I'll reincarnate as a hot rockstar in 3451 and get all sorts of Earth ladies, as well as Alien women that visited from galaxies "far far away" just to see my concert. Hmmmmm.... :rocks:

Hah you never know...that would be pretty badass.

The universe is expanding, contracting, and collapsing. Black holes facilitate this constant change. The rest of the galaxy is nothing but something all at once. Our logic cannot describe it, neither can our words.

In the current manifestation of our brains, it cannot function without first basing itself upon truths, such as cause and effect, gravity, to simple addition. One plus one will always equal two. From there, we are able to function. Without these facts, nothing can be concluded from these basic conclusions, and panic ensues. What you have experienced is that sensation when pondering about the otherwise infinite.

In the end it all boils down to what you believe. Regardless if it is true or not, space exists. Whether we figure it out or not will be up to if we live long enough to use a larger percentage of our minds.

There is no space.... what are you talking about, its just what the government wants you to believe...

You sir watch to much Star Trek

Whoa, man. That's deep. Like space 'n' shit.

I've heard there are two separate theories when it comes to the expansion of the universe:

- The universe is expanding outward and will continue to do so until the energy, I presume from the "big bang," is depleted, at which point it will stop and stagnate.

- The universe is expanding outward and will continue to do so until the energy, I presume from the "big bang," is depleted, at which point it will retract back inward, eventually crushing all it's matter into one central point.

Even so, both of these theories do nothing to address what is beyond the outer reaches of the universe. If we consider the universe to be "space," what is beyond? More space? An completely immeasurable void? It is impossible for the human mind to comprehend something expanding without first being some place. If the universe is the place, what is it expanding into? Deep.

One thing that has always fascinated me was the Hubble Deep Field telescope. To think that this image represents the amount of space taken up by a common dime 75 feet away from you (that's not blocking out much) and they say that space is, statistically, the same in any direction, there is no way man will ever know even 0.0001% of the universe.

Good topic, imo. Even if do0d comes across a bit stoney. :p

It's so mind boggling. Not just that It can't be answered but that we have, no fact on the subject, I mean we have "ideas" but we don't "know." I mean theres pretty much nothing we can do to discover anything either, it's like trying to figure out what it's like to die....you can't.
It's not like it consumes my day thinking about this but whenever I'm not doing anything it just seems to pop it's way in just to piss me off thinking about it

We should start out own philosophy group on here....we'll discover the limits of the universe and DSM's will rule the world :rocks: LOL
