Hey, My mom is about to buy this audi a4 quattro. And I went with her to look at it again and it is in perfect condition on the outside and in. However, I rubbed my finger in the exhuast pipe (not in a dirty way :p ) and there is some oil thats really thin coming out. Its not spraying out, you just have to rub your finger in there to find it. What could this be from? btw it has 97,000 miles on it. Thanks guys.

sure its oil? It's probably just the black soot mixed with a little condensation.

How long of drive have you takin it for? get it warmed up and see if its blowing smoke, a leaky turbo will leak the oil onto the hot manifold making blue smoke come out.

That's fairly high miles for an a4.. they are not known to last forever. I'd see if there are any others w/lower miles.

Thanks guys for the replies. Sorry i forgot to mention that its the v6 model not the 1.8t so its not a blown turbo. We only started it, test drive soon though. Its probably just soot mixed with condensation, because there was no smoke what so ever coming out. Just wanted to run it by you guys. Thanks again. :thumb:

It's for his mom. It will be a nice, reliable car with infrequent but expensive repairs. Out of the box the V6 is nicer to drive and since it's for his mom, I doubt performance mods are in its future.

I'd say thats normal. My mom absoultely loves her A6. It has the same 3.0 engine that your talking about. In the A6, its a dog. In the A4, its a screamer. The reason for that is the A4 is alot smaller/lighter, and they designed the 3.0 to be the fastest A4. Get used to German cars if your not already. To change the oil filter on the A6, the front bumper has to be dropped. Get used to stupid directions, buzzers, and switches. And good luck finding the cup holders ;) However the quailty is another story. Every thing that you touch and see looks like a million bucks, and the quattro system cant be beat. Its a permant all the time 25% to each wheel. I know its saved my mom a couple times this winter. Good luck, and If you have any questions let me know, I know a good deal about these cars :thumb:

Ya, haha its for my mom so no mods. The talon used to be hers so she does like quick cars. Thanks for all the replies, we'll just have to see how the test drive goes. Thanks again. :thumb:
