My friend's internet is down at the moment, and it JUST SO HAPPENS that his CD-Burner isnt working as well  , so he cant send me this video he's been working on. He's trying to get his digital camera (Canon SD100) to send a video file onto the SD card, but it only allows him to send images. I thought there would be a way to send any kind of file onto it. I know that you can store just about anything on an mp3 player, why not a camera? He even tried going to My Computer and accessing the camera thru that, using cut and paste, but that didnt work either.... any ideas?

Does the camera support mpeg? I would think if it supports that then it should be able to copy the file to SD/XD chip. Also what file format is it in?

it supports AVI, but im more interested in just general file storage. Like if i could put an mp3 or a ZIP file on it then take it over to my friend's house, for example. Any way to do that through the camera?

No. I don't believe the camera's programming allows for that. A lot of the newer PDA can though. I would try using any Windows based PDA (not sure about Palms, but I'm sure they would work). Also if you have an IPOD, you can do that also.

My 50 dollar MP3 player lets me send any kind of files around on an SD card.
Maybe find a cheap card reader?

Yeah, a USB card reader will do the trick. I've done that with my compactflash cards to transfer data files, but that was before my iPod.

pop the hard drive on his computer put the jumper to slave and add it to your computer. copy the file. then put it back in his computer with jumper put back in the right place

yeah if i went to his house he could just send it over LAN, we do LAN parties all the time. The point was I wanted him to give it to me while were at school, and just in general it would be nice to use my camera as a mini drive.. owell

If the camera can't do it, then get a USB reader like bhop recommended. Once Windows recognizes that reader, it'll treat the SD card like any other disk drive.
