ok call me a ricer, or whatever, but i was looking for everyones input on the Brembo Slotted, or (Brembo slotted/dimpled) and Powerslot rotors. i DO NOT want to get drilled rotors.
and yes i did a search because i searched this whole forum through and through and everone who seems to want slotted rotors gets labled as a poser or ricer. so please dont rip on my for what i want.
any way, back to business
i need front rotors only right now but i will get rear rotors when i can. and i also need pads all the way around. I want to spend 130-170 or so on rotors for the front, and another 30-50 on front pads. i am just going to be getting stock pads in the rear for now, b/c i still have stock rotors and there is no use tearing up a set of nice pads. i already know that i want to get slotted rotors, i am just trying to figure out which is better, Brembo or Powerslot. and i was wondering on pads...Hawk or AXXIS.
thanks in advance!

I don't have an opinion on Brembo vs Powerslot, but can say something about pads. If you don't left-foot brake and don't do any road-racing, then Axxis Metal Masters are pretty good. But they can't take much heat. If you do some serious braking, I think you should put more of your money into getting good pads, such as Porterfield R4-Ss. Stay away from EBC Greens, IMO; while they can take heat, they have lousy feel. The Hawks are seriously dusty, so if you have a cosmetic side to your personality (or worry about caustic dust eating your wheels), then I'd avoid these, too.

thanks, that si what i was thinking. i thinki i will go with axxis pads.

Hey Kyle, I don't know how the money situation with you is, but you should look into this as well. http://www.2gnt.com/nuke/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=31

I will be doing this coversion soon hopefully. I do agree with cait though, all the slots or dimples do is eat your pads faster. If you get good pads the heat from normal driving won't be enough to cause any damage.

maybe eventually, but i need brakes now! and i really dont have much money. thanks for the advice though. but if i get good pads on the slotted rotors, how fast do you think it will eat brake pads?

well i ordered my powerslots and metal masters last nite. hope i like them!

how well do they work greenmachine?. i just got my powerslots in today, and they say too use hawk pads.

well i a mnot sure because i dont have them yet. they should be at my house on thursday or so. i will let you know hten. how weel do yours work. or do you know yet?

dont know yet, just got mine in today, with the idea to install them as soon as they get here, but they say its a must to have new brake pads, and they suggest hawk metal's.

For the sake of conversation, I'm leary of any rotor which states a particular pad must be used. There are many pad options out there for your car as you know.

A brand X rotor for your car should work well with any pad for the car. But....

The suggestion of one being required makes me wonder if it's A. Needed to boost brake torque via Cf which is where the bite really comes from, or B. A pad of lower Cf for longer life thus not allowing you to overheat the rotor by fitting some real sticky pads.

Given that any gas slots, holes, dimples whatever do nothing for brake torque the pads are really the key.

I'll read along with this one as you guys report back.

hmmmm.........well when i bought my rotors from rre, they said i could use any pads i wanted. i just asked him which pads would work the best with those rotors. he suggested metal masters, and i have heard many good things about these pads. so that is what i decided on. i will let y'all know what i think of them when i get them on.

They combo you have is excellent :thumb:

Stopping power is increased by 10, the axxis pads work extremely well w/ the powerslots.

GREAT! that is what i wanted to hear! that makes me feel very comfortable. thanks
