How far off was your camber after installing this set up. i have gr2's and am debating on whether to buy the prokit

my camber was/is pretty far off in the rear. I picked up a front camber kit from tirerack.com
I don't recall the specs, but when I did the alignment there was no way for the rear to adjust positive enough to be good.
I think the drop is a little more for the 2G prokit compared to the 1G kit. I don't know if they have enough stock adjustment to get everything in spec.

Toe is what eats tires. I just got mine adjusted from about 2.5 negative degrees of toe. My tires lasted 6 months. This is the rear by the way the front should be fine.

Tokico non-adjustables are a much better budget shock than the GR-2 by the way. That's what I'm running and I'm very happy with them.

Curious to know if you guys had to trim your bump stops for the gr-2 strut and eibach pro kit install.

I bought my car with that set up on it, but the shocks range seems way to short. With only an 1" of drop and any kind of serious bump in the road makes a loud thud. Something seems wrong with my set-up.

I noticed that most of the replies came from users with a 1G using GR-2's and a Pro-Kit. My girl just bought me a set for my 1997 GSX and was wondering how they will work. I am putting them on in a week but I was just wondering how they will feel. I have a blown stock suspension so I guess anything will be better than what I am running now. Thanks! :thumb:

Yeah kinda an old thread but I am wondering the same thing....I was thinking of going drastic with the spring/damper setup...but I like cruising alot and something a little bit then stock will be good enough. gr2/prokit combo with sway bars bushing kit should do me just fine, Im not looking to win any races...

I don't do any racing, and I'm not a total suspension buff, but I really like my setup. Its a hell of a lot better than the old beatup stock suspension. If I was buying suspension again I'd go with the same setup (maybe go with AGXs instead of GR-2s if money permitted).

I have GR-2's with H&R sport springs. You get very little suspension travel with the GR-2's since the shock body is long. I barely have any room for jounce bumpers. I'd say there is only about 2" of suspension travel up front, so if you put jounce bumpers in the front, make sure they're short enough so when you corner hard you're not resting fully on the bump stops, otherwise you get large ammounts of understeer. On this note, my gr-2's are blown, there is shock oil all over the shock shaft and body, I got a set of AGX's that I will be putting in saturday with some new KYB shock boot/bump stop combo's. Hopefully there will be enough suspension travel to run the bump stops without cutting them. I had the GR-2's in there for about 9 months, so they didn't last very long. I go canyon carving and do backroad sessions every weekend, so they got worked pretty hard, but either way, they didn't last. I thought the ride was great, stiff enough to give lots of feedback and grip with reduced body roll, but comforterable enough for the street. No bounce at all, the spring rate seemed to be matched real well to the valving in the shock. I've cornered at 1.08g's (not on a skidpad and according to my g-tech meter, so there are other variables) so for some good street fun they do the trick, but it's time to get serious about my handling and the GR-2's won't cut it. :dsm:

I wanted to know the same thing about Prokit and GR-2's on a 2g. Right now I have gr-2s and Progress Lowering Springs (1.9 inch drop...similar to Sportlines). I like the way my car handles now but I am sick of bottoming out over everything and having a "slammed" car. Right now I have all four camber washers in the rear, and adjustable ball joints in the front. When I had sportlines I measured 2.3-2.9 negative camber in the rear and 1.8 negative in the front. With my camber kit on and adjusted all the way out, I still have .5 negative in the front and 1 negative in the rear....

Unasked-for advice: Reset your front camber to 1.5-2.0 degrees (leaving the rear at 1.0 degree) and zero your toe (or have a tad of toe-out in the front and toe-in in the rear) and enjoy the extra 5-10 mph in corners.

I have sportlines and gr-2 's on my car right now.I have the agx waiting for me at the shop but i got o time.anyways the gr-2s seem to be working fine and i installed my lowering springs bout 3 months ago and the shocks are over 1 yea rold.

The prokit hardly lowers a 1g at all. I know because I had them on my old car. My current car has had H&R sport springs (1.25 drop) for a year with gr-2s, I drive very aggressively and they have held up. With a 1" drop the gr-2s are great, anything lower I recommend the agx.
