Ok im trying to put my coil over in but the bolt that holds the strut in the back is stuborn. It wont budge i tired wd 40 and waiting for it to soke in. anyone have any more adies on how to get them off or losen the bolt at least. or a shop that can losen the bolt. thanks a bunch.

Just use a big long breaker bar...you aren't trying hard enough...and your litte 3/8" socket wrench isn't giving you enough torque to break the tension. If you can't get a breaker bar to fit, you could always use a normal combo wrench and put the closed end over the bolt...then smack the other end with a hammer...I've had to do that before.

use two wrenches, closed end on bolt, open ends interlocking. instant ghetto-fab breaker bar. w00t w00t!

tried everything here. even a air presure gun or impact gun. whatever the case all that the gun maneged was to strip the bolt. now what do i do? still no budge.

Well, maybe you could drill the bolt out...just drill right down the center and reverse it out? But then maybe your drill bit will get stuck...or the bolt will get totally screwed.

I really don't know...so you tried a 1/2" drive breaker bar with a pole or something on the end to make it even longer get more torque and maybe get two people to push on it?

Whoever put this bolt on for you did it WAY to tight. If you can get it off with everything you tried its gotta be torqued down to like 400-500ft.lbs or more

At this point - with the bolt-head stripped - I'd say it's time to go to Sears and get an extracter set. One such set has you drill a pilot hole in the head of the bolt and then use a special reverse bit. The other such set uses fancy socket-like things to grab a stripped bolt-head. The latter is easier and uses a standard breaker bar. Then, use every other trick in the book, including both Liquid Wrench and PB'laster and heat. Good luck.

Heat man, Heat. Use some heat man. Honestly, if you ever have problems getting a stuck bolt out after using my pb blaster, heat it up until it is red and use a breaker bar. To strip out a bolt that big you had to have been using the wrong size socket or whatever.

if I am thinking of the right bolt, then the one he is trying to get loose is a 17mm

Yes, the rear shock's lower bolt is 17mm. (The uppers are 14mm, which pretty much sums up the whole suspension, size-wise.) I was in Sears today and they will sell you just the 17mm extractor socket for about $6. Gotta love winter salt.

Oh, and a cheapo propane torch would be about $8.

pretty much sums up the suspension...except for the ball joints...they are 22mm...hehe

For 6 bucks...thats pretty good, hopefully it works for him.
