Will a 2G 17" spare wheel fit over the Baer calipers? I'm looking to mount the battery in the trunk and I need to know if I'll have a spare or not. There is no sense hauling around the weight of a spare if it will only work on the rears.

I would say no. But... that doesn't mean the spare is useless. If you ever get a flat in the front, you can always move the rear up and put the spare on the rear.

Or, you could junk the spare and carry one of those emergency inflation cans. Your wheel & tire shop will hate you though. Once they take off your tire to repair or put a new one on, they'll have to deal with all that goop.

The weight savings isn't that big of a deal... another excuse to make more power. :D The hassle of not having a spare when you need it is not worth it. Trust me... been there.

I wouldn't want to carry two jacks. If it wont fit, I wonder if a spacer could be used.

I just realised what I'm asking here. :D Whats the offset of a 2G spare wheel? God that sounds so dumb. OMG What is it, maybe four inches wide?

What's this no profile no service? Hey bigfoot, I'm in Lake Oswego, where in Portland are you?

My friend has a 2g gst (w/Baer track) and he says the spare wouldn't fit.... unless you carry a full size spare. So either carry a emergency can and hope you never get a flat or carry two jacks.

Lol, some of you are going to make a great wife someday. But if I was looking for a woman to nag me I'd have gone to the Russian brides forum instead.:D
Thanks Paul, I'm in Gresham. I think I'll mount the battery off to the side and get a 2G spare. I figure I can space it out with a handfull of 1/2" washers, that should tell me how thick of a spacer to buy.

I called a salvage yard and asked about the spare, but the guy said 2G spares are 16" not 17". If he's right this is a dead end.

Same problem exists on my kits, but can't you jack up the car from one common point on the side to get both tires off the ground? Seems pretty common to me. Maybe not.

No profile,

Todd, when your finished with your jack I sure hope you remember to wash your hands. I crushed the bottom of my car once by jacking it up towards the center. Either I find a narrow 17" wheel with the right offset or carry two jacks. Maybe stash a pint of bourbon with the spare, cause if I have to change two tires I'm gonna be pissed. And of course that would only happen at night in the rain.

LOL, you know that's the truth! On the side of a busy freeway too.

I'm surprised that the Mits doesn't have a common jack point behind the front wheel for lifting one side fully. Live and learn.

Hey Todd, I think I found the perfect spare. 125/70/17 with our lug pattern and it's made to fit over big brakes. The down side, it's from the EVO 8, might be tough to find.
And I tried to update my profile and was reminded why I never finished it before. Every time I entered it, it would tell me to fill in some supposedly optional stuff like "what future mods, whats your dogs name, favorite ice cream, etc." I would have still done it but I was afraid they would ask about penis size too and I didn't want everyone else to feel inferior.

I have the same problem with my formula. I solved the issue by investing in AAA.
