Okay, spread 'em!

Now that I have your attention: Spread 'em as in spacing tires/rims out with spacers.

Are wheel spacers bad/good? Why? Want details? Read on:

I just got some tires/rims and my tire offset is 45 and I STILL rub up front just a little on the strut cone thingamajig, and some other spots in the wheel well at the extremes when turning.

Can I/should I get spacers?
It can't hurt, right?
I want to space them out just enough to not rub, but not so much I have to get longer lugs.
What are the size options?
Suggestions on what size?

FYI: 1g eclipse GSX/AWD stock suspsension, for the life of me I can't remember what tire size I ended up getting; changed my mind so many times, 17x7 45 mm offset rims. I'll check tire size on my lunch break.

Thoughts...

Thanks

C'mon, please any thoughts?!

I don't want to ruin some very nice brand new tires.

Thank you.

I cant speak for cars, but truck owners use them to get the same width rear track as the front, I'm getting a pair of 1 1/2" spacers right now. Nobody reports major troubles, however some of the cheaper aluminum ones will crack on real cold days from heating up too fast. These have lugs mounted in them so they are different than the simple 1/4" or so spacers that you would use. Do it, I'd make sure they center well.

THanks for the info. I'll check around locally and see, otherwise I may have to order 'em. I'll avoid the aluminum ones cuz it is 25 degrees here. I'm thinking i can get some narrow enough I can fix the rubbing problem, but still use existing lugs.

Anyone rec places to get spacers?
