Looking into fitting a coil-over setup from a 2G onto a 1G.
it's just a sleeve and a tophat right?? What could cause them not to work? Thanks in advance!

Would spring rates matter enougth when you are switching to aftermarket suspension??? The 1g's and 2g's AWD's weight about the same if I remember correctly. I don't suppose anyone here could get a few dimensions for me?? like overall spring/strut length, and the diameter of the lower shock tower (the round piece right above the lower spring holder)? Thanks!

There is quite a weight difference between 1G and 2G's. Im 99.99% sure that it wont work. Id suggest looking for a genuine 1G kit (for you or whoever your trying to sell your 2G suspension to).

DieselBoy, thanks for the info I appreciate your help!
I just bought a full-coil over suspension setup, not the sleeve type, and someone with a 1G asked about my old sleeve coilovers. If they will fit he will get them for cheap so I was just trying to help by figuring it out. I mean all coil-overs are is the sleeve and spring and hats, if the sleeve will fit on a 1G strut and overall length of the spring/shock combo is nearly the same (they are 0-3" adjustable) it should work...shouldn't it?

95 awd manual - curb weight 3197 lbs
91 awd manual - curb weight 3101 lbs
These specs are from carpoint.msn.com.

96lbs is the difference. Now when your getting into spring rates in the 400lb - 500lb /ft range, does 96lbs make a difference???

If anyone could provide me with measurements of the 1G coil-overs I'd appreciate it! (spring length, coil-over diameter, coil-over height, then overall heigh of the spring + coilover top post and bottom post). Thanks!
