i have a friend who owns a shop and me and him were having a discussion the other day. i said i wanted new rotors and wanted some nice crossed drilled ones. he said its a big no no to get cross drilled cuz when they crack (eh?) they crack all the way across. i dont exactly know what he means, but i do have a question, does anyone have this problem? i find it strange that i see so many cars with crosse drilled rotors and see them running on the track and they dont have problems but he says its bad. weird indeed. thoughts? opinions?

I would think they are good to get.... much better than stock ones. And if they crack?.... I'm sure if you went with a good brand, that wouldnt happen.. thats my opinon on that...

Well, I've heard and seen on tv that they do crack in between the drills after a lot of use (don't know how much use). I think that if you don't replace the rotors after that small crack, they might crack all the way.

I've had cross-drilled rotors for a couple of years with no cracks. They were a name brand and "radiused" to reduce cracking. I got mine from a small outfit and had to phone them. I asked about cracking and the guy told me a lot of his sales were to police and other fleet type use because of the need for higher performance braking. He said none had complained of cracking.

In spite of this, I now see a shift to dimpled rather than drilled. They look about the same but the holes don't go all the way through.
