i just installed an obx front tower strut bar professionally on my 98 eagle talon esi. now there is a small gap in between my hood and my passenger fender. it's fine on the other side though. it looks as if the strut bar is touching my hood and keeping it up like it is. any suggestions?

well, you get a big shiny sledge hammer and....well you know. I'd look to see if it's hitting on one of the bracing ribs on the underside of the hood and just take a die grinder to it. I don't know where it's rubbing but if it's the mounting bracket you could just file it down a bit. i don't know what else you would do. is it an aftermarket hood?

yea i thought about knocking it in with a hammer too..and it is a stock hood

Ummm, yeah, this may sound obvious but did you make sure that the part of the strut tower bar that dips down (lays lower to the motor) is on the passenger side and not the driver side??? if you have the circular mounts flipped the wrong way you can easily reverse it by accident. This sounds like your problem, check into it and that you have the bar for the non turbo motor.

Either the bar or its mounts are on backward. There should be no interference issues.

I've seen many in the gallery that are installed backward, as ProjectTalon130 says. The flat part, if you have a Turbo bar (also common in the gallery on NT cars, beats me), goes over the battery.

Also, OBX hasn't established the best in the way of a reputation, from what I've read about them here.

I can't find pics of their Mits bar, see if it's this shape.

Also note that the bar goes to the front of the tower, not the rear. Some can be reversed that way as well, I don't know about the OBX.

backward install (back of the towers):

wait... i just looked again and the strut bar looks like your first picture... is your second picture the right way it's supposed to be? the flat part of the bar is over my battery

Since you are N/T then the flat part needs to go on the passenger side of the vehicle, which on a turbo car is the battery side.

thanks to all who advised... its all good now!
