I am looking to order some tires here tomorrow, and what some opinions.

I was curious if the Nitto 555's handle well in rain. Meaning, I dont want to hyrdo plane doing 65 in the rain. Also, are they loud, and how is the treadwear.

my other choices are the Falken Ziex ZE 512 W rated, and the Dunlop Sport fm901's.

I had also thought about the Hankook 405 ventus.

One last question. I will be going with 225/40/18, currently I am running 225/45/17 and I rub abit on some turns in the rear. What offset should I get on an 18x8 wheel to help minimize rubbing?

Any and all opinions or suggesstions are extremely welcomed.

Nathan

What tires did you order and how did you like them?

What wheels did you get and what was the offset?

Wow....talk about an old post brought up from the dead.
I currently have 17x9 rims, and never sold them. So, I am still running 225/45/17 Kumhos, and I will never get them again.

They are excellent in the rain, and handle good on the street, but they are merely okay for drag. But the bad side to them, is that they are LOUDER than hell. My next tire will most likely be the Sumitomo II, Pirelli P7000 Supersports, or maybe even some Yokohoma Avids.

Thanks,
Nathan

I thought you might like someone to respond to your post...LOL I am trying to descide on some wheels and tires and wondered what happened with your situation.

Why did you pick a 17x9? What is the offset? Do they stick out past the fender?

Thats cool. I always like replies :)

I currently have 5Zigen Typhoons. I had ordered 17x8 from our distribitor, but they messed up an sent 17x9 (i think, it has been a long time). I am pretty sure that is the offset is +40. Wity my 225/45/17 on the back, I only rub on hard hard turns. The front doesnt rub at all, and my car is lowered about 1.8" all around. The rims do not stick out past the fender.

And to update my last post, my next tire will be the Sumitomo HTR+. They are excellent in the rain, excellent in the dry, provide good lateral grip, and are pretty good in the straight line traction department. People are giving them mad reviews, in which they have them on CL Type S, Audi A4 turbos, BMW 5 and 7 series, etc....

Plus they are only $99 a pop for 225/45 series and $96 for 215/45.

Thanks,
Nathan
