ok my other thread got closed so i had to ask here....

this is what was said by AVOSI or something like that....

+40mm offset.
On all Exel wheels.

MAKE SURE YOU GET THESE FOR YOUR WHEELS!!! SERIOUSLY!!!

http://www.1010tires.com/hubrings.asp

You need either 72.62mm or 71.12mm outside diameter and 67.10mm inside diameter.

Or elsewhere...

what is that , and do i have to have it for my rims?

ok i understand they keep it from vibrating , but like is that necessary , does everyone use these?

I think a more appropriate question would be "does anyone know what they are actually for?". They aren't there just to center the wheel. A proper hubcentric ring has a tight interferance fit with the hub. This ensures that the weight of the vehicle is actually supported by the hub and centerbore of the wheel, eliminating any sheer load on the wheel studs.
Wheel studs are just designed to clamp the wheel down, they are NOT designed to support the weight of the car and have shear stress.
You can actually break studs. I have seen cars break all of them and have wheels come off more than once.

Everyone should have them. Oh and if you think that Joblow at your local wheel/tire shop has ANY clue what the hell they are talking half the time I have waterfront properity for sale in Arizona.

They'd damned well _better_ be, or there's gonna be a helluva problem changing velocity.
Hub rings may not be completely pointless, but you'll have greater benefits out of tightening your lug nuts with a torque wrench- and literally millions of cars are getting along just fine without that.
You won't _lose_ anything in using them, other than the $20 to buy them, and the disappointment on finding out the next tire shop threw them away, but no, they aren't necessary. Just more hooey, like throwing away oil at 3000 miles.

Hubrings are very important for some cars. We sell wheels for t he European car, where they are hubcentric cars and not lug centric. If we forget to send the hubcentric rings out with the wheels, then those cars (bmw, mercedes, audi) are so sensitive, the cars will shake like hell. From the experience I have at the shop here, I think they are very important for all cars.
