This setup will be for a 2g awd. Since the gc's and konis are nearly $900 I could spend the same amount for Tein super street dampers. I'm leaning towards the teins but would just like to hear some opinouns. So let me know what you guys think.

THe koni reds are a little cheeper and are not adjustable. I believe the yellows are the adjustable ones.

I believe just the flex. This is a very cool option but realistically, once you have them dialed in, who's going to change them often? The Transporter maybe.

Go with Koni. They're frankly better than the Tein SS setup, as far as ease of getting them re-valved for stiffer springs, plus you can pretty much run any standard spring on the Ground Controls, like Hypercoils or something like that.

Tein SS are a very entry-level coilover made for DUMPY BOYZE RACING street cars, and frankly, they're not very compareable to Koni/GC's. I don't even know why anyone would bother with Tein other than the FLEX system, which, IMHO, is pretty weak, especially compared to something like JIC's FLT-A2's, which are pretty much just under going full professional, unstreetable suspension setups.

So if you want to impress friends with your l33t JDM Coilovers, go Tein, but if you actually want performance, go Koni/GC.

Edit: And you can get a set of Koni's serviced at a hell of a lot more places than you can with Tein's SS series. You know, like at *real* race shops, not having to mail them back to Tein, if SS's are even revalveable (I don't think they are).

How is the FLT-A2 better than the FLEX?

BwaaaHaaaa Haaa. Now THAT was funny. Except for the fact that lots of us DSM'ers run around with hot Azn babes, kicking ass. ;)

From what I've heard, Tein is very high quality stuff. It doesn't have any of the rattles that the Ground Controls have. Over on the DSMtalk, there is one guy who switched from Koni Yellows/GC setup to Tein SS, and is *VERY* happy with the switch, saying how his Konis blew out on him a couple of times, and rattled a lot.

I am personally going to spend the extra on the Tein FLEX setup, but saying the Super Streets are only for riceboys is talking out of your ass. Many people have had good success with them. The FICs are nice too, but not a lot nicer than the Teins.

Fully adjustable shock bodies make a difference to you? 8" of adjustment range?

That clear enough?

Oh, and it's pretty much pointless to buy any suspension system for the 2G eclipse without getting new pillow-ball upper mounts, given how crappy the stock upper mounts are.

I will be happy to admit that Tein makes very high quality stuff, but IMO, the stuff that's for general consumption for the DSM isn't really worth it when you can spend a bit more and get a setup like what JIC offers, unless they start building the more compareable series for DSM's, like what ArticTsi had built for his 1G.

The FLEX has adjustable shock body, adjustable spring perch, 16-way double adjustable damping/rebound.

The FLEX comes with aluminum upper pillowball mounts.

So I ask again, how is the FLT-A2 better than the FLEX?

Weird. No rattles here. I can't see any reason they'd rattle unless the install was botched somehow. Was the car lowered quite a bit? I do know that Koni's don't appreciate being "squashed"/used on one of those bumper dragging show cars :) :)

Are there any coilover systems that do not need to be aligned everytime the drop is changed? This is the biggest problem I'm gonna have because the height and stiffness will be changed at least twice a week. I dont want to set it up for autox and have the alignment screwed because it was set for the street. And stiffness/height will also be changed when I go from here to la once a month.

In a word "no" :) It's not the fault of the coilovers. It's the suspension geometry. Now, should you decide to replace your suspension with a custom made double A arm configuration, you might be able to get it setup so that you don't need to align it.
Most people in your position align it for one or the other. Some try to compromise in the middle...
