how much weight does removing power steering really save??

well thinking about this mod after i get my 91 GSX. how much weight does this really save? and is it worth it ?

Unless it's a true race car, the weight savings are hardly worth the effort. If it's a street car, which I bet it is, take off your power steering belt and drive around for awhile and see how you like it. You won't like it.

espicaly on a turbo car, if this was a honda it would make a noticable difference but not on a dsm, and parking or turning at low speed for any reason becomes a real pain to do without power steering, removing the a/c however is probally a good idea, not so much for weight savings but the condensor blocks ur radiator

I thought you had to swap in a different rack (out of a 1.8) to get a better ratio with no power steering?

It is really not worth it... at all...

there are many cheap mods you can do to increse power, but don't start by decresing driveability, if weight is you concern, start by removing all the seats but the driver's and remove all the things you don't use while racing like the jack, spare tire etc...

Or if you're thinking that this will free-up some crank horses, nop... this is not a good option.
