Well my rotors are shot and its time to get some new ones. I have a 95 AWD. 2 quick questions, is there a difference between 95-97 and 98-99 calipers and rotors, if so are the 98-99's bigger? does a 95 talon awd have duel piston calipers?

I have no plans at the present to auto-cross, so I don't need the latest and greatest. I am looking for slotted and either cross drilled or dimple rotors. I am on a budget (like most of the other people on here) so I want something that is good yet not costly. What are some good places/websites to look?

Thanks,

95s have dual piston front calipers and vented rear rotors. 96+ have single piston fronts non-vented rear rotors. so yes there is a difference.

if you have no plans for autox/road race, stick with the stockers (they probably only need to be turned anyway) and porterfield R4-S pads. that alone will make a big enough diffence in braking without breaking you wallet.

thanks for the help, I didnt know that there was a diff. between 95 and 96 brakes.

I am still thinking about some Slotted, cross drilled/dimple rotors, does anyone know a good place to get them?

I hear cross drilled rotors have a tendency to crack under hard use.

FWIW I just replaced my GST front brakes with the dual piston calipers off a 1g GSX along with the powerslot rotors & stainless steel hoses. I wish I could quantify the vast difference. The brake pedal is *right there* and when I so much as *touch* the pedal the car stops. I really recommend the powerslots and an upgrade to stainless steel brake hoses.

Almost every mod I’ve done has put a big smile on my face after doing it but this is by far the mod I'm most awed by so far. Anyone with tools can do this.

I don't know how much of a difference it makes compared to new pads & stock rotors due to the fact that I warped my stockers after about 1000 miles and have been dealing with them like that until this weekend.

I should post a picture of my old rotors….
