greetings, all.

i tried searching around, and i didn't see much that would be applicable, so here goes.

my DSM (92 TSi AWD) needs new wheels. i am buying a set of rota attacks, 17x7.5", and am wondering what precise offset i will need to use; also, i was wondering what tire sizes would be safe to use, sans-rubbing. 245/45/17 will fit on the wheels fine, but i am a tad concerned regarding fitment; perhaps a 235/45/17 might be best?

the suspension is stock right now, but it will be replaced shortly with a set of AGXs and some ground controls, so that needs to be taken into account.

thanks a lot, guys!

hmm. you sure? the tire actually fitting on the wheel shouldn't be a problem - i checked the tire manufacturer's site, up to the 245 will fit on the wheel - but people talk of running 235s without rubbing on 2Gs. is the 1G really that different?

Well, I wouldn't use a tire that fat on a 1G but it could work I suppose. I just don't see the reward for using a tire 10mm wider that will rub under load. Go for it if you really want it though.

Umm yeah don't mind 91 nt...get the 235 they will not rub..don't worry...Candela has 225/45/17 on his car there is hell room still so go with 235 man...and 91 NT has no idea that he is talking about...

i guess i'm running under the old assumption that wider is better. i'll just stick with the 225s. =)

what about the offset? 45mm and 48mm appear to be my choices (17x7.5" Rota Attacks). apologies for the noobness, but all the information i've been able to find is about the 2G. =\

Do you try to be a total jackass or does it happen naturally? And if you like Korea so much, why don't you go back?

Anyway, unless you're road racing or something, just get 225s and you'll be set.

now now guys, be nice. ;)

i'm gonna be doing some tracking and autocrossing these tires, so i was looking for the widest ones i could feasibly run... but it's also gonna be daily driven, so i can't have anything too crazy.

Be sure about it and get the smaller ones. What tires you thinkin' about?

falken azenis sports... good, cheap tires.

i've been running S03s on my civic (00 civic si, black... tis me daily driver and occasional autocrosser), and i like 'em... but they wear pretty quick, and they're expensive. i've driven on azenis, and they're pretty much as good, but a lot cheaper. =)

Cool, sounds nice. I don't blame you for getting something cheaper. Where you getting 'em from?

tires.com... $110 or so a tire with free shipping, for 225/45/ZR17s. they have them in 245/45/ZR17s, which is what i had originally wanted... but i'll just stick with the 225s. they don't make 235s. =\
