palos park,
hey, i just bought a 97 eclipse rs and i have been doing research about sport springs and shocks. I need to know what will be the best choice for having around 1.5-2.0 in drop and a smoth ride. I know i need to buy springs and shocks but whats the difference between coil over springs and shocks and just regular springs?

i don't know the answer but i would love to know myself so if anyone can help the both of us out that would great thanks

You will get the best ride quality from coilovers versus a spring kit. Another advantage of a coilover is that you can adjust it, most go from 1-4". ..Spring kits can bring alignment and camber problems.

we use struts
for street use, i know a lot of guys that use the tokico blues and they work fine for them. for springs, a lot of people use eibach sportlines or prokits but i heard they sag. check out www.dsmreview.com itll help u out when searchin for products in general.

Go with a performance shock and a spring the most important aspect of your suspension is the shock/strut it controls what you feel from the road. cheap shock cheap ride. Our cars come with KYB's so what your sittin on know isnt that bad but if you want a drop i'd say go with a lowering spring and a quality shock/strut, all though i've heard a lot of good and bad things about coilovers cant help you there never tried them. but i went though three suspenmsions before i got my ride the way i wanted it. I suggest get all the info you you can get research and resarch. And then buy your setup, also big diffrence betewwn a 1.5 and a 2" drop. if you want right inbetween H&R makes a good spring.

i hope that this guy is joking. i personally had coilovers on my first car. coilovers ride horrible. and you still need a camber kit and alignment when done. this guy obviously has no clue what hes talking about.

the best ride i have ever felt is with eibach springs and struts. these ride so damn nice. this is what i would reccomend

gotta agree.....from personal experiece, lowering springs ride ALOT smoother than coilovers. and no matter how you lower a car, you're always gonna run into camber & alignment problems.

If you want about 1.5" of lowering w/ good ride, the Tokico handling kit is a good choice. Come w/ tokico springs and struts, rides well; otherwise go w/ Eibach PRO-KIT(not Sportline) and some Tokico blues. You don't really need coilovers unless you're going to be changing your ride height a lot or you auto-cross. The main advantage of coilovers is being able to choose and swap spring rates easily, and of course their adjustability. But then I'd only get Ground Control's, all that Ebay stuff is junk.
