Well spring is coming and i'm finally going to get some rims.

Currently I'm sitting on:
eibach pro-kit springs
KYB AGX adjustables on all 4 tires
And a front strut bar
I want something that is good for street driving, does good in the rain, and could drive in the snow if I had to (I haven't decided if I'm going to be swapping my rims back on for winters yet)

I live in new england, and I'm going with 17s (haven't picked them out yet though)

Will Kumho Supra Ecstas fit my needs?
Will 225/40/17 be a decent size or? I don't want to throw off my speedo too much, but I want to be able to get traction. I also really want that LP look, but don't want to shred my rims if I hit a pothole (my area right now is TERRIBLE so)

Where is the cheapest place to get kumhos. I'm on a REAL tight budget, hopefully I can squeeze off like 800.

get the 45 series if you go with 17's, if you want more of the low profile look get 18's with a 40 series. Just look on the board and buy some used rims, its cheaper that way, and most of the time the rims are like new cuz everyone changes there mind so fast.

err I'll be able to put 225/40/18s on my car without problems? I thought that eclipses tended to have a very hard time fitting 18s, especially already lowered and everything.

I know I'm going to need a rear-camber kit, what else am I going to need? Obviously the rims and tires :)

so 40/18s or 45/17s will fit without a problem? and 225 is good for handling, traction, and speed?

How are these tires in the rain and in otherwise less than perfect conditions? And can they be used in snow/ice?

OMG, I can do NINETEENS?

Hrmm.. I'm still kind of concerned with speed issues though, and like I said I'm up in new england, and our roads aren't exactly good.

I think the 40/18s will be a nice middle ground for me.

EDIT: I was looking at www.whalentire.com.
What about the Kumho 711s? 225/45/17 for $70 a pop, sure they are "only" H rated, but would the 712s really be a whole lot better?

Also, I've heard good things about the falken azenis, also listed on that page. Which tire would be better all-around (street driving, poor conditions, rain, etc)

I drive everday in snow with kumho ecsta's, they are alright but not great in the snow.

for 17" rims get 225/45/17 tires
for 18" rims get 235/40/18 tires

Also keep in mind you should have a 7" wide rim for the 225 tires, and a 7.5" rim for the 235 tires at minimum.

well money is a huge concern, so I'll probably go with the 17s. I saw a couple of nice rim+tire packages for $800 on wheelmax, I'll probably just call and order, and have them swap on the kumhos for a little bit more.

Thanks for all the help guys, and screw you bastards who tempted me with 19" rims.

just remember that most of the tires your gonna be looking at are high performance and aren't gonna be recommended for the snow, which means they aren't made for it and you won't have very much traction at all.

Yah I realize that. I was kind of wondering which would be better overall in the snow though, the falkens or the kumhos. Obviously they'll both be bad. I've driven on my friends Ventus IIs in the snow and it's not TERRIBLE, but it's definetely worse than my stock tires in the snow.

I may just swap back on the stockers for the wintertime, we'll see what it comes down to.

Now it's just a matter of saving up some money.
