Are these the right tires for my rims...??

I have Motegi MR7, 17x7 +40 offset. I already decided on the brand of tires, Kumho Ecsta Supra 712. I'm thinking of going with either 225/45/17, or 215/45/17. I can't decide on the width to get. Is the wider the better? The 225 is only $3 cheaper, so I guess price doesn't matter.

That sounds right to me. And you should definitely get the 225's. For just $3 more each tire why would you wanna go thinner. Wider is better, more grip, better looks too. Cars look phat with wide tires.
